Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Okay, so just when I was really nervous already about my registration officer not replying to my email, I was about to buy a call card already to call AHPRA. But when I open my email today, I got the most important email I've/we've been waiting for:
Finally after 5 months of waiting, I got the eligibility letter already!!
Thank you so much Lord! I have been praying for this and nothing really beats all the prayers. Amazing it is!

Congrats princess!!!!=)
Yes I do have 2years nursing experience... My experiences were in the ER and OR.. We'll see how it goes when they email me with the results...hehehprofessional reference is a letter that says you're competent as a nurse, etc... employment statement is the statement of service which states how long you have worked in the hospital.. that's how i understand it.. im not sure though...
good for you. i only have 1 year experience
so IHNA is off my list.
im targeting la trobe and CON next year since i think that there wont be any BP school aside from Mercy (in which the competition is stiff in this time of the year) which will still be conducting their BP before the year ends.
For now, i think the best option is to lengthen my number of experience.
6 months after BP, still no work as a Registered Nurse. SIGH.
I'm here in Australia (PR). Lucky enough, yes. But, still no luck of being employed as RN. I'm working as a Carer in a far rural place. Receiving enough wage, learning skills, improving my communication.
Six months...
Most of my Indian classmates went back to their country. Few got lucky to be sponsored but they have already have long years of experience.
Truth is...
There's already nursing surplus of Australian graduates.
There are job postings/listings but prefer HIGHLY experienced nurses and OZresidents.

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and it's been a very interesting read. a cousin of mine (who's a nursing grad with no hospital experience) applied for a student visa in australia through an agency here in the philippines (she wouldn't tell me the name).. they really spent a lot of money (I think about 2M, including the proof of funds) but she says that she'll be taking up a 6 month business course in Accountancy then shift to a nursing course after that would take 1 year. Does anybody know if this is legitimate?? It makes me wonder why she has to take a business course first and if this nursing course she would take would enable her to convert her student visa to working visa or PR if ever?? any answers would be much appreciated. Thank you.. :)
hi mariel!!! i just wanted to share this too, there's one consulatancy agency here in quezon city also saying the same thing to me.. They wanted me to apply for student visa and will be taking masters in accountancy. If u talk to them its like saying, getting PR is just a piece of cake, telling applicants that after 2 yrs we can have our PR already. the consultant even told me that after graduating from masters in accountancy , BP program will be free becoz i am a nurse here!!! Not good right?
And Ceridwyn is right, he gave us information that could really help a lot... you dont need an agency service to apply ur assessment to ahpra, u can do it by urself, just read, read , read hehehehe.
So many Thanks to all the people here giving us very useful information!!! :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe
