Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
thanks :), i just found that out. anyway, when dd u send your application? I'm planning to send mine to SA, anyone tried this office?
I do not think it matters were you send it....processing depends on your school and registration board sending their requirements and the IELTS arrival and what the assessment officer has made of your education institution for nursing, if it needs discussion then it may take longer.
.....so AHPRA may have much less staff there to assess international applications, the international assessment officer may only work 2 days a week there at SA so therefore your application may take more time to process. I would personally send it to NSW or Victoria, where you know all staff available are there.
Congrats miks103.Im a newbie here and like yourself i am a second courser.I just want to ask ,aside from TOR did you send a copy of course description ? I am bit apprehensive that they would scrutinize the papers/documents of those second course graduate. thanks.
I am quoting this caption from criterion 3 of the framework for the assessment of internationally qualified nurses for registration from the ahpra website.
"Documentary evidence to include original or certified copies
as per the criteria of AHPRA Certifying Documents.11
* The applicant provides a transcript of theoretical
content of the course, including total hours for each
subject and clinical experience.
* The applicant provides the certificate gained and
evidence of completion of the course."
Hence, I included all the course description and syllabus of all the subjects taken during my nursing course. I am a 2nd courser too. My rationale is better to surpass the requirement than lack it.
nope, im in the outback breaking my back.. do you have good to excellent credentials, then try HOLLYWOOD and DOH.. otherwise, still try but do not be shock if you will not be accepted, but if you will be accepted then you should be shock and happy.. good luck! cheers!
ahhh ok..based from what you are saying Hollywood and DOH, have really high standards and requirements..maybe i'll give it a try, because they offer one of the cheapest BPs. I wonder how much is the cost of BP in hph and doh right now...any ideas?

i do not know now, it was really cheap back then.. DOH requires 2 years paid experience which i assume you have that experience.. BP is cheap such that many with good experience applied there competing with one another.. i do doubt if DOH still conducts BP..
Filed my Visa March 18, just got it today (I'm in Mindanao) 456 Multiple Entry! Oz here I come~Goodluck to all of you here :)
Congrats! I hope you'll still continue posting in this thread even when your doing your BP already. We will surely need your help about processing and all.
By the way, can you share with us the timeline of your application. Thanks!

thanks! maybe ill just do that.. by the way, what do you mean by school, are you talking about school here in phil? because what i know is that ill just send a certified copy of my TOR and RLE.. or is there a new policy about this?
Sent mine last Dec.Tried calling ahpra earlier today to inquire about the status of my application. They said they haven't received my certificate of good standing from prc. I sent it last Dec. simultaneous with the other docs. No sense in arguing with them. I just went back to prc today to get another copy. Will get it wednesday next week. Will just send it thru Fed Ex or DHL. It's better this way than arguing with ahpra that prc has sent it already. At the end of the day, it will only delay further the processing of my application if I'm not going to send them another copy.
Unbelievable!!!!

good luck sa BP!! welcome mate!!
Thanks cioman! :) You are the only person here who knew my predicament, and yes indeed prayers really helped! Thanks for all your help and the sharing of information :)
By the way folks, I think its easier to apply for visa now. Our 176 (Skilled Migration) filed last Sept. 2010 got news already. My spouse and kids and myself are being asked to do the medicals already and we will be assessed in 3 months time.
Anyone have an idea about the re-use of medicals? I read in DIAC website that from temporary to permanent stay we need to redo the medicals, but there are exemptions (i just don't know if a nurse on 456 is included in the exemption since the example given is 457 only)

Yes, the new policy as from September 12 2010 is that an overseas nurse education must be equivalent to the Australian nurse, which is at a higher institution that is of unversity standards, ie: the institution has lecturers that are progressing the profession, like research, preparing policies advising organisations, helping with government development of polices, actually do work in hospital work such as advising helping develop that hospitals or aged care facilities policies. Members of many health related organisations.
Many are working towards doctorates and therefore are doing research for their thesis, all towards informing the nursing profession and in the past....though as students we sometimes think too far in the past, actually have had quite a bit of hospital or community experience before they start lecturing at a university.
so then an Australian student nurse is actually being lectured and taught by people that are advancing the nursing profession and the nursing program is of 6 full-time semesters of PURE nursing subjects.
If your nursing education was at an institution with very little passing rate (this must be an indication of the teaching) your education institution may be questioned as of university standards of Australia and your course is not of 6 full-time semesters of nursing subjects only then it may take some assessment and may not be considered of same standard if this is the case then it is referred to the board, to make a decision on your nursing education.

Thank you :)

Thanks.
No need for the course description. Just the TOR. Don't forget to also include TOR of your RLE.
AHPRA would really look into your TOR and the University/School you graduated from. Just try to have it assessed. Goodluck :)
Goodluck :)
