New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hi cioman94, thank you so much for your reply, yes i already read th diac website regarding visa 456, i just have a few questions that u might help me with.

In the application form for visa 456 theres a question asking if i intend to enter australia on more than one occasion and if i answer yes, they want me to give details regarding it.. what do u think should i put there as details?

in the application, they are also asking me for employment details, the two choices are EMPLOYED and SELF EMPLOYED. the problem is im only a nurse trainee, which makes me officially not employed in the hospital.. which box should i put a check on?

I really hope u can help me. tnx!

I am very sorry, I do not have information specifically on filling up 456 visa form (but, 457 visa form, im quite knowledgable).. but one thing for sure, many many many forumers here are on 456 visa, they know the answer to your questions..

Just try to be cute and ask their help.. They should help because it is written in the Bible (hehehe thats for their conscience to deal with).. Seriously, they know.. ask them or repost your question..

Im sorry, and good luck..

hi, this is drednag's wife. drednag is now in australia (maybe sleeping from that long flight as of this moment hehehehe)..anyway, i know a little about the application for 456..so here it goes:

there really is just one golden rule for filling up of forms: be truthful, never ever misdeclare anything. that said...

for the question asking if one intends to enter australia on more than one occasion, for drednag's case, he answered yes because a 456 visa allows you only to be in australia for 3 months. and the bp takes approximately 3 months, so you have to exit australia after the bp. but, in drednag's case, he needed to be back in australia after the bp to process his application for registration. so, he answered yes. as a result, he was given a multiple entry 456 visa.

[color=#483d8b]on your employment details ( this is just my opinion) since a nurse trainee is not an employed nurse nor a self-employed nurse, then you should not check that portion. i gather you are not employed in areas other than nursing, right? and you also do not have your own business? then answer no if there is a box for that or if none, leave that portion blank for the simple reason that you have no employment details.

[color=#483d8b]i wish you all the best in your application. :)

Hi all. Firstly apologies if the answers to my questions are here allready. There is so much information that I coul'nt get through it all.

I'm an RN. I'm Irish and am a PR of Australia. I'm returning to Australia shortly after some time away.

My girlfriend is Filipino. A RN, Midwife and a Physio. She has only volunteer work as a RN from the Philippines. She only recently got her Midwife exam in the Philippines. She has around 1 yr's experience as a PT. She's 32.

She's just going to sit here IELTS next month. I don't mean to tempt faith but she hopes to get the required 7 this time (narrowly missed out the last time).

My questions are;

Can she immigrate to Australia?

I'm certain she has got 110 points on the skilled immigration points test.

But will she qualifly for such a visa?

Will she have to do a bridging programme? How much would it cost?

Should she apply for sponsership?

We just don't know what to do. We've been apart so long and we're afraid of loosing our relationship.

How can I get her to Australia? What's the fatest, easiest, cheapest way?? PLEASE advise.

p.s We don't want to get married so that she could get a visa.

hi everyone!

a couple of hours ago, i sent my documents via fedex and asked idp to forward my trf, both to AHPRA victoria. why did i send it to ahpra victoria branch anyway? i also went to prc, but my certificate of good standing won't be available until wednesday! grrr! i think my credentials will reach AHPRA-Vic come monday. the agony of waiting starts! i hope they reply soon...courier service is very expensive!

when i was in prc, i was again discouraged by the long lines and hot temperature there (as usual, nothing changed). so i decided to just send my prc certificate (that i already have with me) instead of going through all the tedious process just to get a certificate of good standing. however, the people at DHL (courier) inside prc advised me not to send my prc certificate because prc only issues 1 original copy...is this true? so i still have to return to prc on wednesday to have them deliver my certificate of good standing to AHPRA-Vic

i miss manila. suddenly i'm nostalgic!

AHPRA - Update for international nurses

Yep, looks like its open house!!!:D

Hi Everyone, I have been following this thread. I just want to clarify since it's not stated specifically in AHPRA website regarding the time frames on how long they would give their reply... (ie; If an overseas nurse submits her/ his application for registration w no complications) Is it a month, 3 mos..? I hope someone can enlighten me on this. Thanks

I do not want to appear annoyed or rude........but if you have read this thread, you would have understood that the new board began on July 1 2010, AHpra, is the combination of many health professions and therefore it has been a massive undertaking...you would have also read that no nurse has yet been assessed by the new board, we have no idea how long it will take for a nurse to be assessed it does state 60 days is mentioned somewhere, but while this board is still in transition...the answer is......how long is a piece of string...... C

PS lie....they have processed newly grad. Australian trained nurses and midwives.

Thanks for the reply C. I hope that those who have already submitted their documents to the AHPRA would give us some updates when they recieved their approval. Thanks again.

hi! health care (including nursing) law changed in july 1, and the transition phase is july 1-sept14. i just submitted mine and i think it will reach ahpra by sep18. my papers are going to be processed (i think) by the fully transitioned ahpra. i think their more stricter now. imo they will be able to process faster because they have fully-transitioned into the new law already (redundant to the nth power haha!). i am so ready to be rejected, denied and die! ahihi! :jester:

If you do manage to be registered here in Australia, and manage to find work (you have no experience I take it) get ready to work with OLD FEMALE NURSES, specially in aged care, cos we are in majority still...as you politely put it in a few previous posts... spose that means any women who happens to be a nurse over the age of 28.
