New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

panic attack! confusion! disoriented! anxiety attack! *calms down so i can write*

hi! i've complete all the necessary documents, had them certified, printed my CV, had both my CV and SoS signed by my employers. in short, all that's left is to send it to AHPRA.

but i feel the need to postpone and re-think all of this

i want to be an Au-RN, but is it better if i'll just have AHPRA assessed me as EN?

are the fees for EN much cheaper than RN?

is it easier to get a job as an EN or as an RN?

i think the process is the same for overseas RNs, ENs and midwives (since all three use the AGOS-04 form) , so the fees are also the same? but what about the bridging program? is it like Phil RNs are automatic AU-ENs? or there's still katakot-takot or gargantuan tuition fees to be an Au-EN?

technically, i'm a USRN. i've wasted Php20,000+ just to pass the NCLEX-RN, but...this is like more than 1 million pesos we're talking when it comes to being an Au-RN. the big question is...

is it really worth risking Php 1,000,000.00 just to go through the BP. is there more guarantee for employment as an EN rather than as an RN?

panic attack! confusion! disoriented! anxiety attack! round 2! florence nightingale or rather, rich old australian citizen, save me from my misery!

me in ur case..... i will not waste time anymore thinking analyzing that EN thing... submit the application as RN, if you are not accepted then they will downgrade you to EN, if that will happen.. if you will apply as EN, damn they will never upgrade your application to RN, never.. besides, last time i check, you are not eligible for PR as EN...

all that's left is to send all my documents to AHPRA to be assessed as RN, and wait until AuD450 or PhP18k is deducted from my mom's bank account. the only thing i can think of is everything will go to waste and i will fail. the power of negative thinking is killing me! ahihi!

Pardon my curiosity, but until now after how many years, i still do not know why do i have to spend more money and time enrolling in a 1-2 year nursing course in a Uni to become an Aus RN, when i can do it in 2-3 months via BP, hence, less time and less expenses..

This is really one thing i do not have knowledge of... Please educate me the reason why... I have younger sister who is also a nurse... definitely I will not tell her to take 1-2 years nursing course, instead take the 2-3 mos. BP..

Hope anyone can teach, perhaps i overlook something that is why i didnt understand..

since 2 years ago, i mentioned in page 1 or 2 that nobody i have heard of, a Filipino nurse, who failed the BP...

thank you...it made me want to go go go...

i can't find threads in the AU/NZ section of this website pertaining to unemployed BP grads. maybe there really is greener pasture there... or there's something i don't know yet until i experience "it"

thank you so much ciaoman94 :clown:

hello everyone!

Two months ago, I had the chance to talk with someone who's just waiting for her confirmation letter from a university. She told me that, I can submit my application for registration before taking the IELTS, but now it's a different thing. I need to provide evidence of the successful completion of IELTS together with my application for registration...

I am planning to submit all the requirements before this year ends then go to UAE and finish a 2-year contract. Sending the necessary documents I guess won't be that hard if I'm already in UAE, because my sister is in Victoria. but my problem is, will it take 2 years or more for the whole process of application for the BP in Aus to finish before I go there?

I know a doctor, it took him 3 years before he was approved and got his plane ticket...

what about my IELTS, di ba it will expire in 2 years?

I need some advice... pls help me in my dillemma. hehe!

Thanks a lot!

hi nosaj! how long (weeks? months?) did it take AHPRA to reply to you from the time you sent to them your documents? another question, does castlemaine require you the 456 visa? i thought it is more convenient post-BP graduation if one holds the business visa...

hi glioblastoma, the letter was dated june 15,2010 and it was still the nbv who assessed me. it took around 4 months because i had to send additional documents..

no, castlemaine didint require a specific visa... tnx for the reply!:)

hi cioman94, thank you so much for your reply, yes i already read th diac website regarding visa 456, i just have a few questions that u might help me with.

In the application form for visa 456 theres a question asking if i intend to enter australia on more than one occasion and if i answer yes, they want me to give details regarding it.. what do u think should i put there as details?

in the application, they are also asking me for employment details, the two choices are EMPLOYED and SELF EMPLOYED. the problem is im only a nurse trainee, which makes me officially not employed in the hospital.. which box should i put a check on?

I really hope u can help me. tnx!

hello, just wanna got straight to the matters:

1) forget that doctor with 3 years.. its one in a billion, what happened to him.. are we clear, okey..:)

2) it is really advisable for your own good to have IELTS and everything else complete and submitted so that it will be filed "orderly".. AHPRA is still in transition mode, better if your documents are already complete (instead of it being filed as "pending").:smokin:

3) on how many months will it take for AHPRA to evaluate and give you an eligibility letter, that nobody knows for now... it may take 3 mos. or 6 mos. or more... nobody knows yet, but for the sake of betting, better bet it would take them more than 3 months (for sure you will win the bet)..:yeah::twocents:

4) having said that, once you receive your eligibility letter (whenever that may be), the letter has an "expiry" whereby you are given (lets say for example) 2 years for you to enrol in BP.. But i dont know exactly what is the "expiry" duration now (sorry i dont know everything)..:uhoh3:

5) if i am in your case, i would be "happier" if i have my sister in the Philippines who will take care of my documentation needs.. your documents are ofkors here in the Phils., so if ever you need something or AHPRA requires you something, then it would be good if you have a relative who will follow up and knows how to get documents here in the Phils. where you study (and worked).. Your sister in Victoria would still be a big advantage in your part.. anyway,, thats just a minor issue.. the thing is just make sure that you know what are the documents needed and you have already prepared them or have requested a relative to obtain them when you are already in UAE.. I think you got my point..;)

6) IELTS will expire 2 years, but once you applied at AHPRA and received eligibility letter then that's good already, so no problem.. Meanwhile, I think BP schools does not require IELTS, but please check this one to be sure..

7) just dont forget that enrolling in BP schools is very competitive, example if you apply for enrolment now, either they will accept you or not,, and if they accept you, well they may accept you for next year's batch.. thus you cannot totally control this thing, unless you are very blessed..

8) i dont know what do you want? do you want to go BP as soon as possible? or do you want to finish your 2 year UAE contract before going BP? since i dont know this, i could not give you a specific advice.. nonetheless the above information i gave are enough for you to analyze your situation and arrive with a decision.

nways, just post again for any further questions you may have.. good luck..

other forumers, please correct any mistakes i may have above.. thanks..
