New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

hi everyone. i'm also currently applying to AHPRA. I mailed my application to them March 4 and got an email last week that they've received my application. I wonder how long it would take. But reading your posts here, looks like it would take a while :-/ i was hoping to make my chosen BP's deadline by july and start the program by october so i guess that's wishful thinking. Anyone here doing a BP in WA? I'm also a second courser.

I'm also in the same situation as you are. Have NZNC approval letter for CAP since last year. My IELTS is set to expire this Sept. I decided to apply with ahpra for registration. Have a BP slot already in one of the schools. I'm now waiting for my letter of approval from ahpra to undergo the BP. Please check the ahpra website for instructions. They are very straightforward and a lot easier to comply compared to NZNC.

Check also the previous threads starting page 1. All your questions about the process can be answered from the previous posts.

Decided to apply with ahpra last Dec to have at least another option. Didn't want to put all my eggs in one basket.

My niece is already in australia working. She was able to get in during the previous rules. She didn't have any work experience at all. Now, you are only required 3 months work experience either paid or volunteer work for as long as nursing related. It's just like nznc.

The major difference between aus and nz is the cost of course. You are going to spend at least 3 times as much.

Hi joiemike! How were you able to reserve a slot in a BP if you don't have your ahpra registration yet? and which costs 3x more? aus or nz? Thanks!!!

wow it's my first time to experience autumn! summer is here. when i go to sm dept store and ask for winter clothes, i hope i can find something amidst all the summer clothes on sale. i'll just take some of my nle/nclex reviewers. :)

if you're looking for winter clothes even if it's summer, try Surplus shop. They have a lot of thick jackets and sweaters all year round. ;)

Hi to all! Who are future ACFE students for the BP this coming May? I'd like to know my future classmates. Thanks! :)

Try checking ACFE's facebook page. I read someone will be going there this may unless you are that person. ;)

which state will this bp take place?

ACFE (Australian Centre of Further Education) is in Melbourne, Victoria.

Try checking ACFE's facebook page. I read someone will be going there this may unless you are that person. ;)

Hello unadunad! No, I am not that person. :) Anyway, thanks!

thank you. i will take a look at that store when i buy my thermal wear :)

I just emailed my inquiries to all the BP providers in victoria. Some gave me a positive response. I just told them up front that I'm still in the process of applying for registration with ahpra.

Of course Aus BP costs more than 3x as much as nz bp. This is when you consider the exchange rate and the tuition fee together with your living allowance. ;)

Hi, im new here... I have a few questions... its kind of off the topic now, but i hope someone can shed me some light. Im here in OZ with a tourist visa, after a couple of months I decided to try and enroll for a Certificate program in TAFE. Im a license nurse in the Philippines by the way. Here is the thing; I already have my letter of offer from the school, paid for my deposit for the enrollment (so im already enrolled and all...), have my COE and obtained my IELTS band needed for immigration and the school...Ive done all of that during my stay here in Oz. Ill be going back home first week next month. I will apply for a student visa. I was wondering , how long will it take for my application to be granted?

I am having problems too with the show money... 1M is pretty big! I have a sister here in OZ, she pledged to provide me with my basic needs, food and accommodation. Will that be deducted to the funds im going to show the immigration? I have already paid half of my tuition...will that be deducted too?

Is there any other way i can comply with the show money. Like can i show certification from banks that they can loan us any time? sorry im just worried, because my class starts this july. what are the odds of me going to be rejected? they say it depends on my case manager too. i just have no clue!!! When i applied for a tourist visa, after 3 days i already got approval from the immigration and within the week i got my visa. I didnt even show any funds for my travel. I know student visa is a whole different thing. I hope someone can help me with this. i really need your help! Thanks heaps!!!

hi, just to clarify, is this a BP program that you enrolled in? You're done with the whole AHPRA process?

Hi everyone! i'm a new member here.

I need help..

I'm a registered nurse here in the philippines,no working experience.just trainings..

I also passed ielts but it will expire on july next year.

I didn't know about the bridging program before..

Regarding aphra, may i know the list of requirements to be assessed? how many copies do I need to send?

Which do you think is better, sending the requirements directly to aphra or sending those to my relatives in australia and ask them to send those to aphra personally?

thank you so much.. :)

Hello Chimaira, although I cannot answer you with regards to your course but just to be sure have you checked it with the AHPRA website atleast if that course will lead you to a registration as a Nurse in Australia? Try to check first :)

Anyway, I can help shed some light with your "show money" concerns. DIAC refers to it as 'Proof of Financial Resources' and not 'show money'. For that, you can show your bank accounts (savings, current, time deposits), Yes the Bank Loan Certificate is also one (since they will not acknowledge your properties like land titles but if it is used as a collateral for the bank so your Credit Line in that bank is available anytime then you will have access to funds which is a financial resource for you), Credit Cards Statement showing your available Credit Limit is another financial resource, Affidavit of Support from your sister or if in Australia a 'Statutory Declaration' made by your sister to support your cost of living expenses but you will have to attach her Statement of Employment/Income Tax Records/Bank Statements as well to show her capacity to support you. Yes being enrolled and having paid the tuition will also help alot.

Goodluck to you :)
