Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

do i need to renew my ivt, bls, acls, etc while i'm still in the philippines before i go to oz? are these courses recognized in oz? do nurses registered in oz need additional training on iv's before they can do the procedure? or do they need another training to be assigned in critical care units like er or icu?
I was wondering which comes first, applying for a visa or applying for registration in AHPRA? Thanks a lot.. BTW, I'm going to send my application on thursday in AHPRA.. Hope it works out well..
I guess you have to apply first to AHPRA, then wait for their decision if you are eligible to take the BP or not. Then, if you are approved, they will issue you an Eligibility Letter and you will use this in enrolling to schools/unis which offers BP. If you are accepted, they will send you an Acceptance Letter. Afterwhich, you will show the Eligibility Letter and Acceptance Letter to DIAC as evidences in applying for a visa AFAIK. Please correct me if I'm wrong... Thanks :)
I asked AHPRA if my employer needs to sign my CV and this is what they replied..
Thank you for contacting AHPRA.
Yes, your CV will need to be certified by either your current employer or a recent employer from the last 5 years. - AHPRA
I was wondering if they'd honor hospital training. As they defined their practice, it is anything in which nursing skills were used whether renumerated or not. Thanks!!

My CV was signed by all employers of mine covered within the last 5 years, the most recent being only a 6-months hospital training. Actually what I did was in the table showing my employment details, I included a column where the Name of Employer/hospital is indicated and I included a statement "Certified Correct: (had it signed by the chief nurse/employer)". That is precisely why AHPRA only gave a guide to what a CV should contain because it is you who will design a CV that can explicitly satisfy what they ask. Well, I was lucky too because the Chief Nurse was very accommodating and understanding that in fact each page of my Statement of Service (i had 5 pages because my roles where described in detail), I managed to ask her to sign also (like what lawyers would ask you to do for a legal document) because I wanted to prove to AHPRA that all the pages were authentic and reliable :)
You just have to do everything you can to come up with the best CV there can ever be because for sure the one looking at/assessing your documents will appreciate your efforts somehow :) Goodluck!
Wow!! Can I see a copy of how you made your CV? This is my only problem and I've already gathered all my documents to be submitted within this week as I already asked PRC and IPD Education to send my documents directly to AHPRA. Since I am still unable to confirm whether an emplyer should really sign the CV. In contrast to the earlier messages in the thread, it was said that it was a micommunication that a CV should be signed by the employer. Sorry if I'm a bit disoriented as this application is really new to me. Need some guidance. Thanks!!

The previous post where I gave the link to gliobastoma's CV was actually my guide. You can go see that sample. What I did was just to polish it some more to my own 'liking and satisfaction', but it was quite similar to that one. Sorry I don't have a soft copy of my CV :)
No problem! Thanks!! I was actually reading the whole thing right now and saw Glio's CV.. LOL.. I'm glad I saw it because mine's actually a bit distorted.. LOL I was also confused on who will sign my CV since it was training.. BTW, is somebody responsible for cleaning the whole thread? And make some wrapping things up? There's simply information overload here.. LOL Anyways, thanks cause I got a lot of info here.. :)
if you can successfully have all employers sign your CV, good on you..
if you cannot do so, then better keep that CV with incomplete employer signature, instead prepare and send a CV without employers signatures.. this is assuming you all have the certificates (but that just they/some are not willing to sign the CV portion).. i mean what can you do if some of them wont really sign and insisting the certificate is enough..
You have any facebook account? Yeahh.. I suppose cause I was just having training there in the hospital but as what I read on the AGOS form, they defined practice as something in which a nurse uses his/her skills directly/indirectly even without renumeration as long as it is recognized by the licensing authority here.. Anyways, I applied last year and I got in the middle of transition period. As a result, they mailed back my papers together with the form and waived the payment for the next assessment..
P.S. Would hospital training be included in the recency of practice? I have a certificate stating my 5 months training together with the number of hours.. Thanks a heaps!

i think round trip tickets are necessary, unless you are a PR or Citizen.
