New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Wow congrats! :yeah:That was a long wait. Now I'm really pressured to have all the requirements ready as soon as possible. I just hope that AHPRA will release eligibility letters faster. I'm just afraid my IELTS would expire when I'm still on the process.:nurse:

I believe enrolling for a school is another hassle because of the immunization requirements.

as long as you have the budget for immunization then it is not a hassle really, just remember that there is a certain vaccination that rquires 2 shots one month apart.. i forgot what it is (DPT or MMR, cant remember exactly).. nway, just post again your question once you start getting your vaccine..

shermaineRN, how ar you doin.. keep up the faith..

Hi Fellows, finally my wait is over. Today I received my post mail from AHPRA dated 4 Jan. 2011 for my eligibility to the College of Nursing in NSW :) Been waiting for about 9 months for this. Just to share with the rest, below is my time frame:

Last Week April - submitted docs to NSW-NMB

July 1 - got stucked with the transition of the boards

September - started sending emails and making phone calls to AHPRA for follow-up

Last week of October - received email for A Nurse Professional Officer asking me for additional documents to match the new requirements of AHPRA ex. CV, New Application Form, additional supporting docs if I have (in my case since i was doing volunteer work while waiting so I just included that)

November 12 - sent the documents via DHL

December 17 - sent email to my case officer for follow up (never got any reply, sent her about 3 mails in total)

January 26, 2011 - finally got my eligibility letter dated January 4.

Just abit more information about my situation (hoping that some may be confident):

1. I am a second courser.

2. I did it ON MY OWN just by thorough reading of Parts I and II of this thread, reading the AHPRA website, reading DIAC website. Most of the information was really because of this thread actually.

3. When I first applied I didn't have any experience at all. When I sent my next batch of documents I included a 5-month volunteer experience only in a secondary maternity hospital in our place. Because, while waiting for AHPRA I just decided to make use of my time to gather experience already.

4. I also applied to Murdoch University in Perth, Australia for the 1 year Nursing Conversion which did not require an eligibility letter from AHPRA. But after completion of the course you should still apply to AHPRA for your registration. I got Murdoch University's Admission last October 2010, so actually I already can enroll anytime, get a student visa and can defer it for another 1 year if I wish to.

5. My spouse also applied for skilled immigration with me as a dependent partner but I believe this is about 2-3 years waiting period.

6. So in total, I now have 3 routes/pathways to go to Australia.

I hope this post can be of help to you guys :) Goodluck to All.

@miks, wow im so jealous lol :lol2::lol2::lol2:( just kidding)... Congrats, Godbless and all the best :):):)

read my original reply to you.... hehehe.. its written there "DEMAND DRAFT"... thats your form of payment, go to a bank and ask about this, its like a check, you will send it together with your verification request form.. peace..

@cioman14, i guess i missed reading the part about demand draft lol :lol2: (palusot)

big thanks soooooo much, honestly i really don't have any idea about bankdraft, big thanks :yeah:

shermaineRN, how ar you doin.. keep up the faith..

hi cioman94!:nurse: im still waiting for the approval letter...but its all good..:);) hopefully i'll get it by the end of this month or nxt month..:nurse:

hehe.. thanks for askin';)

The following are to be sent directly:

1. IELTS (from IDP to AHPRA)

2. TOR (school to AHPRA)

3. Certificate of Good Standing (PRC to AHPRA)

The rest of the required docs can be attached to your application form. Goodluck :)

The rest of your questions I have no idea :D

Are you serious? has a lot of things changed since the last time I posted?

TOR must be sent by the school directly to AHPRA?

I know the IELTS and Certificate of Good Standing must be sent directly by IDP and PRC respectively....

as far as I know, as long as the TOR is duly certified by the Commission of higher education, it can be attached with the registration form and the other documents...

As far as I know, Yes. Prior to the transition July 2010, NSW State for instance in its application form specifically mentioned about the TOR sent directly to them by the educational provider. I'm not sure if the other States required the same but most of those who applied in this thread were quite certain it was that way.

Well, in the latest AHPRA form now under question #11 it states :

You MUST attach a certified copy of ALL your academic

qualification(s) e.g. academic transcript mentioned within this

form. Where educational institutions verify academic results at

completion of your course directly to AHPRA, attachments are

not required.

In my humble opinion, you should just ask your school to send directly to them, i think the rationale behind this is that NMBA wanted to be sure of the authenticity of the records seeing to it that nothing has been tampered or so. You could also try calling AHPRA directly to re-check on it :) I might be mistaken about it, but those were exactly how I did it :)

Guys (special mention to cioman94:D), what type of short-stay visa you think I should apply for? 476 or 676? what's the difference actually? any ideas? I know I've read before some discussions and opinions about it being "basically" the same thing but I really can't decide which among the 2...

Also, do you think that a short-stay visa will affect my current pending immigration visa (since we also have a family migration visa in process under visa subclass 176. any ideas? TIA :)

i agree..from what i understand, academic records like the TOR do not need to be certified as true if the school will send it directly to them. Hope this helps..

@miks103: i think you mean subclass 456..this visa is takes a shorter time to process than the 676. A difference of 2 or 3 working days, i think. However, the time it takes for either of these visas to be processed depends on a number of things..like if you have problems during the medical check ups or incomplete applications.

anyone going to The College of Nursing for the April batch? please help me prepare in studying ahead of time. what are the core topics I need to review?

Can anyone confirm if WA has already merged with AHPRA?

I'm planning to send my application there after my IELTS. I just don't want to be sending them an application while they are busy merging with AHPRA to avoid untoward circumstances.

I'm not really sure how to write the address because it just say right here:

1. By Mail

GPO Box 9958

IN THE RELEVANT

CAPITAL CITY

I'll be very grateful if someone answer me... I just don't want my docs to be lost.
