Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hello Dear :)The show money has to be real money in the form of bank statements (which was held within the last 3 months before application). Mastercards and credit cards are not accepted as valid evidences. Loans can also be used and you must present the documents which certifies this. And yes, they will really look at how much money you have.
Credit cards can be use for this purpose, I believe. If you have a very good credit history this is even far better than showing a bank statement of 6 months old. You just have to show your billing statements. Gold cards are the best. I have a friend who went to NZ just this year and she doesn't have much money in the bank. She just used her credit card and the billing statement with a credit limit of 70K. And please your credit card should be mastercard, visa or american express. Never mind with JCB and Diners. It should be widely accepted and should be from a reputable bank.
in my case, i submitted my application to qnc with the necessary documents except ielts... i have received a reply from qnc to submit my ielts results with passing scores to be able to proceed with competency assessment program... so what i'm saying is that qnc will start assessment of your credentials even without ielts but they will eventually require it....
yes i agree, i think what the QNC is trying to imply is that an applicant cant proceed to CAS (challenge test) without IELTS result, which for me would only mean that, this is already after the approval by the QNC and that the applicant is now eligible to take the CAS provided that the you have met the ielts requirements set by the CQU-CAS, by this times it is the CQU who will validate your ielts result...

This is incorrect. When your application has been assessed you will receive written advice of the outcome. In most cases, applicants with qualifications gained in countries where English is not the first language will be required to demonstrate English language competence through IELTS or OET before the council refer you to Competency Assessment Service (CAS). You cannot have the permission to start CAS without your English proficiency results. The Council will assess everything including your license, educational requirements, etc. without your English requirement. But before they allow you to sit for the challenge test or do the module, you have to provide them your passing English scores.
The CAS by Central Queensland University (CQU) was just commissioned by the Queensland Nursing Council (QNC) and subject for review. CQU cannot guarantee you a license. They only need to assess your competence as per instructions from the QNC. After that they will have to forward all results to the Council and they will have to decide if they will issue a license or not. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the added info.
I'm not so sure about the credit history being better than the bank statement because bank statement is one of the best supporting document to show that you have enough money. For tourist or short stay visas, this might be able to help suffice the required financial evidence because the amount of money needed is really not big - just good enough for the number of months you are going to stay. However, try your best to at least have some money in the bank account too.
I'm not sure if the amount will be based on the living expenses set by Aus in other visa subclass. If so, they set it up to 12k AUD/year so that makes it 1k Aud/month. So, if you are going to stay in Aus for lets say 3 months, try to have at least 3k AUD and lets say 1k for RT ticket - for financial requirement purposes. You can use all your credit card histories, bank statement, loans, etc.

yes, just like what you have said, CQU was only commissioned by the QNC, and before you can enrol to a pathway that you are going to choose, english proficiency should be provided first, this is because CQU is an educational institution thus before they are going to accept enrolees specially overseas students they see to it that they know how to communicate using english, thus they want the QNC to advise the enrolees or applicants to provide this before the lodgement of documents/enrolment form to CQU...
what i was trying to imply is that i agree with one of the forumer here that applications for intial registration will be processed without english exam result and if successfully processed, QNC will advise the enrolees to provide a english proficiency certification which is an important requirement set by CQU before an applicant can enrol...
lastly, i was just trying to imply that QNC is not the only one who set the requirements since they are not an educational provider, CQU needs the english exam result to make sure that everything that they are going to teach/incorporate to the applicants mind is clearly understood by the student/applicant since they use english as a medium of instruction.

Yes in pesos not in dollars. You may visit the Australian website for information. It is clearly stated in there that you must satisfy their requirement about supporting yourself while in Australia by providing your bank statement and access to funds (this includes credit cards).

I'm sorry rlssem but I have to disagree. The English requirement is set by the QNC not the CQU. This is to ensure that before you are given the license to practice in Australia, you can communicate well with colleagues and patients alike. This ensures patient safety and not for academic purposes. You may enrol courses with CQU and yes I agree that they will require you to pass an English proficiency exam. But it will not be as stringent as QNC.
The English proficiency result is not a requirement of CQU. It is a requirement of QNC. And I would like you to know that your initial registration will not be processed without your English proficiency result. QNC may conduct the initial review but they will not continue and will not allow you to proceed to CAS without satifying all their requirements, and that is your English proficiency result. Without that, your file will be stuck.
After a satisfactory assessment from QNC, they will notify CQU to accommodate you for the CAS. The CQU will not ask anything from you but the payment, your name and demographics. Without the approval of the Council you will not be permitted to enrol.
Remember that you are applying for a license and only QNC confers that to eligible individuals. Also, Nursing course in CQU is regulated by the QNC. The Queensland Nursing Council and Queensland Nursing Union regulates most activities that impact the Nursing profession in Queensland. Hope this enlightens you.

You have to have at least $1000 for each month of stay in Au. P100,000 is safe for 3 months, I think.
