Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
anyone interested to apply in the northern territory? They do not have an assessment fee. you just have to pass your application for assessment.
No sis they do have. Its $75 AUD. A non-refundable application fee of $20 and a refundable registration fee of $55, although you have to pay the whole amount once you apply with them.
BTW, my sister just sent me an email re: Australian Certificate and Diploma Showcase 2008. This is for those who are interested to study in Australia. there's a free assessment and consultation to those who are interested plus opportunity to work while study in Au. The event will be held in new world renaissance hotel come this 28th Nov.
Anyone interested just PM me for the details.
Disclaimer: I am no salesgirl whatsoever ok Just want to share this with you guys maybe somebody's interested.

Jeanette
There is no cost for the assessment at this stage (this may change in the
future)

Hmm.. funny coz i emailed them since October and i asked them about the possible registration, steps etc.. They answered my questions as well and all they gave me was this:
English Language Competence Policy NMBNT Feb 2008.pdf and
Application Form Nurse Overseas Feb 2008.pdf
They never actually said anything about the assessment. maybe its another application i'm not sure. But on the application form they gave me it says there that i have to pay $75. The process is basically the same as with QNC wherein you have to pass the application form with supporting docs etc but i'm not really sure about the free assessment.Guess the best thing to do is to clarify with Ms. Crouch about that. :) Anyway goodluck on your application.
Yep those are the forms that they have sent me and I asked them about that.. i emailed them stating that i don't see any application fee and that is what they told me... that I just have to send in my application. I'll send mine this week or next week and I'll update you guys if they ask me to pay the 75AUD
actually, at the end of the day, it is still cheaper and less riskier (financially speaking) to apply in QNC.. and this opinion of mine will only be realized after you compute ALL THE EXPENSES (not only the $75) you will incur.. try to make an estimate of all expenses (airfare, food, rent, transpo, insurance, student visa $450, etc. etc.), you would arrive with a cost figure of 2x or 2.5x higher than QNC... Qnc will cost you less P200,000 or perhaps less than P150,000.00... Unless you have the budget, then there is no problem..

true! i have calculated the possible expenses:
$158 - for assessment and application fees
$200+ (lets say $270) - Challenge Test Part A
$500+ (lets say $575) - Challenge Test Part B
______
$1003 - total
* if unluckily, one failed Part b, then additional $902 for the Clinical Nursing Practice Module, and additional expenses - 1 month stay in brisbane (estimated time of stay).
but then you got to scan and review notes again as preparation for the tests, and try to pass the tests in order for you to avoid paying the modules...
anyone here applying for queensland? or anyone already took the exams?
