New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

ok, everyone, i think i would lodge my application to queensland as well, but i am really a bit confused. aelith's posts have been very helpful. but can anyone, clarify some things for me before i finally decide on queensland. so if you are given permission by the board to undertake CAS and you choose the challenge test, if you pass A and B then you are registered, right? if you fail part A, you take the modules before you proceed to B. if you fail B, you take the corresponding modules and clinical placement? the 1 month clinical placement, does that involve any fees? am i right? please help!

i'll try and explain how i understood it. (please correct me if i'm wrong. :) thanks!)

1. part a ---> pass ---> part b ---> pass ---> registration. :)

2. part a ---> pass ---> part b ---> fail ---> clinical placement (4 weeks). ---> pass ---> registration. :)

3. part a ---> pass ---> part b ---> fail ---> clinical placement (4 weeks) ---> fail ---> no registration. :(

4. part a ---> fail: certain topics but passed the clinical component ---> theoretical modules ---> pass ---> part b ---> pass ---> registration. :)

You're welcome. :)

But basically, the thing is you just have to pass both parts either in modules or the exam itself.

Well, when you fail Part A, you have to retake the modules where you got low scores. So the fee for that would depend on how many modules you have to take. Currently, a fee of 902 per module is asked. As for the Clinical Placement, I think it is less than 1k AUD. I am sorry I am not sure of the exact amount but it is not too much. I can only advise you to double check with them just to be sure :) I wouldn't want to give you any wrong information.

It would also be wise to submit as soon as you are ready because the processing time now is getting longer and longer since the number of nurses applying at QNC is increasing fast.

Goodluck to you! I hope everything goes well for you and the others :)

Thank you Cioman!

When I went home 3mos ago, i enrolled at Niner Review Center but attended only for a week since I was too busy gathering docs for QLD that time. My review wasn't serious and i regret that. Also, I registered in Scott's english and never got serious with it as well. So stupid of me. I've taken the local board, NCLEX, and IELTS and this is the first time i'll be resitting for a test. I feel really bad. :bluecry1::bluecry1:

Your assumption is wrong! haha. :p my penmanship isn't bad, its worse! :lol2:

I think what's my real dilemma here is that, i'm having a hard time figuring out what kind of essay should i write. if i need to compare/contrast, give my opinion, argue or discuss. It confuses me a lot. I think basically that's it. For the writing task 1, it's my fault actually, i'm too lazy to practice interpreting these datas. Anyways, thanks for the tip. If you have time, please visit my thread re:ielts and post some more tips.hehe. :yeah:

hehehe.. nways if theres something positive about this conversation, its dat its clear what were the reasons for that 6.5.. first lack of preparedness and challenging penmanship.. just work those things out and you'll be fine.. good luck..

Hi Guys, Can anyone help me with the verification form of initial registration. I tried to ask PRC office for it but they told us that we should be the one to have the verification form. I thought that it will be the PRC to send directly to the Nursing Board of Australia upon our request but it seems that we should be the one to provide for the form, and they will just fill it up and eventually send it.

The Nursing Board of Australia did not send me that form. Should I just make one, or should I request it from the Nursing Board of Australia? Thanks

what state are you referring to? if you will apply in Queensland, they already have that form together with the application form. it is the 4th paper, Request for verification form

hello patuman01, you have to check it with the nursing council in WA. ask them if they have that kind of form. in my case in victoria, they are not giving any form just to request a verification letter from the registering authority of the country from which you are registered. so better to check with them first.:nuke:

anyway, guys is there anybody here who took the CAS exam of queensland? how was it? is partb difficult? anyone can answer this?ty.
