Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
thank you very much for answering my queries...:)anyway, is there a required number of years of experience in applying for registration?
once approved by the board, the next thing to do is apply for BP in the school offering the course and apply for visa ( am i right?
)
lastly, what would be the best visa to apply for? student visa or business visa?
thank you very much...
sorry ha, several times i posted in this thread regarding the issue of "experience":
regsistration - no requirement about experience (as of now, who knows next time)..
enrolling in a BP school - it matters because there are many schools which required certain experience..
applying for work - it depends on the employer whether it will hire a newbie or an oldbie.. im a bee, im a bee,
yep your right, once approved by board, find a BP school to enrol.. then file for visa...
if you're BP is around 2 months, then you may apply for a 456 visa which is very easy and fast to get (but ask others if im correct kasi you cannot work part-time under 456 visa).. you may also apply for a student visa, but the processing is a lot longer but you can work part-time...
I knew that they will implement such things. But I never really thought something like that will happen. Anyway, what you said somewhat gave me some peace of mind. I hope by August, I can start with the IRON course in Victoria. I already have my visa.
Oh by the way, for those who don't know what visa to take, I chose 456 visa. the course would last only 3 mos. with early exit points. It's processing is faster too.
anyone here who already have experience with the bridging course? is it hard? manageable nonetheless?are the theoretical and clinical components about the basics only? i'll be taking mine weeks from now, just wanna hear advices from someone knowledgeable
note: i heard agencies can give you review materials for the course... but i didnt hire an agency so i have no preview aside from "it has theoretical and clinical components" ^___^
so far all forumers survived the BP with their nose bleeding, but did survived naman...
here's the thing you must remember:
- going to BP is not a walk in the park.. it is like undergoing NLE review (yung serious na review ha) plus assignments, report, NCP, CP...
- expect something about Drug calculations (they are very strict about this), NCP preparation (that's why you must bring along with you your NANDA)..
- since you do not a review materials yet.. what's the next best thing to do???? ...open and update your FB account... or better yet open the AHPRA website and read about nursing codes, ethics, competency standards, nursing laws, healthcare institutions, ACFI...
- of course besides watching twilight, review your MS stock up knowledge.. at least your prepared...
now, ask other forumers again on this matter... like ryan09, chabeli, javRN, RN oz1, ... but they are missing in action now in this forum, im one of the olbies that remains here....
this is PAGE 600.... i was born somewhere in page 30... goodness...

I'll up this post since we're on the same boat sans IELTS.Has anybody processed an application with the new NMBA? I' still a little confused with the new regu board.
just an overview:
1) upload application forms from ahpra and fill it up
2) gather and prepare all the documents needed as required by ahpra, see website.
3) compile the application and needed attached documents like certifications, photocopies of certain documents, notarized documents, certified docus, etc..
4) process those documents that needed to be sent by the institution directly to ahpra, like verification of license, ielts, whatever...
5) send your application and attached documents to ahpra..
6) make sure that the institution that will directly send docus to ahpra had done so (but your application should be sent first)..
for specific questions like filling up the forms, how to notarized, etc.. shoot your questions here..

all pending applications and documents from previous nursing boards are carried over to the AHPRA, if you applied before in NB Victoria, then if you wanna check or follow it up, contact AHPRA Victoria/Melbourne.. NBV was inactive since July 01, 2010 (sorry ha, since 2 years ago, we already know in advance that NBV will be dissolved by July 2010)....
Personal suggestion, follow your document and keep updated with ongoing changes by spending time reading the AHPRA website..
good luck..
