New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

im currently reviewing my form as well .. for number 5 i wrote my residential address in RP but for num 6 i think you can tick no then probably write there n/a since ur not employed in oz yet .it specifically says australia so i dont think it asks for ur employer's address in RP. for num 7 though, i wrote my sis address in QLD since it will be faster and she will be the one to follow up my application anyways :D im not sure if its acceptable though .. for num 8, i wrote my contact details incl email of my sis hehehe

oops, forgot to read the last page, hihihi, yup, says certified copy, thanks headz. got confused by NewMacs and Gemini Stars posts. I think they were talking about the visa application, not for the AHPRA.

I don't use my husbands last name, and all my legal documents, including passport, driver's license and PRC card are still under my maiden name, which I intend to use for eternity hahaha. I'll probably just tick on Miss and then provide the marriage contract later on.

Thanks for the reply :)

In that case, then I agree with you that you tick the title Miss. heheh ^_^

for #11 -

Title of qualification

REGISTERED NURSE*

Name of Institution

PRC PHILIPPINES*

LENGTH OF PROGRAM

4 years**

Is this correct?

*or do I put BS Nursing/Name of School?

** meaning, how long the program is, not how long it took you to finish it?

Thanks :)

Hello nymph76! Thank you so much for your reply. May I ask, did you submit already your application? Im not sure that #5's answer would be here in Phil because I think #6's question is somewhat related to #5. But in every application there should be a return address right? And I don't find it in the application form. So, maybe ur right, I should write my adres here in Phil for #5 and #7. Then I'll just put N/A and no for #6. And then my own mobile number and email since I am the one working on my application.. heheh..

Anyway.. thank you so much for ur info. ^_^

I just remembered I have been copying and pasting the relevant info here to my computer, so I won't waste my time asking people questions that have been answered already, which I just did. Found my answer already, but didn't make note of who said it, but I'm sure it came from the more helpful ones here. thanks for the help!

"you write your educational qualifications/exams/assessment in nursing. this refers to item 11 in the application form. start with 11.1 title of qualification: RN. name of institution: BON-PRC Rep of Phils(but spell it out), completion date: write the date of last day of exam. length of program: write( examination). then proceed to 11.2 title of quali: BSN(spell out) etc, length of program: 4 years. I think thats all. trainings, certs, diplomas, TORs you will attach as certified documents."

anyone here who already have experience with the bridging course? is it hard? manageable nonetheless?

are the theoretical and clinical components about the basics only? i'll be taking mine weeks from now, just wanna hear advices from someone knowledgeable

note: i heard agencies can give you review materials for the course... but i didnt hire an agency so i have no preview aside from "it has theoretical and clinical components" ^___^

1) dont know the answer...450 AUD tsks tsk expensive... one thing for sure i know, they will refund you the

registration fee (only) if your application is dissapproved.

2) are nt it supposed to be paid in credit card? nways, it is convenient to pay in credit card, actually you can use your parent's card, seriously u can..

3) reply for approval? no one really knows at this point, my best guess 3-6 months?...

4) fake documents, nursing education of less than 3 years period, non compliance/submission of documents..

historically, phil. BSN education is acceptable to them but just have to undergo BP..

thank you very much for answering my queries...:)

anyway, is there a required number of years of experience in applying for registration?

once approved by the board, the next thing to do is apply for BP in the school offering the course and apply for visa ( am i right?)

lastly, what would be the best visa to apply for? student visa or business visa?

thank you very much...:nurse:

Hello, I'm new here. I applied to NBV last year and got the eligibility letter to take Initial Registration Course for Overseas Nurse earlier this year. However, everything got really confusing after the implementation of AHPRA. Now that the NBV is integrated with AHPRA, what will happen to applicants who are still pending to become registered nurse in Victoria Australia. There are somethings I suppose to submit to NBV like Acceptance to an Approved program notification, and my new IELTS result. Where should I submit those now?

I've already accepted my offer letter at Castlemaine to undergo with their IRON course (bridging program for some) this august. Will the AHPRA acknowledge the completion of the mentioned course? Well, it is still in their list of approved programs, so I presume they would, but its hard to rely much on presumptions.

I also would like to know, whether our application forms and documents we submitted at NBV are in AHPRA now. If not, does that mean we have to re-submit applications and documents to AHPRA?

I hope you can Help me... Thanks:)

you're done talking to NBV or AHPRA for that matter. the next time you will contact them or look up their processes is when you finish your BP and will register as a Div1 nurse already.

all you need to contact is your school. :nurse:

`hi headz .. well it says residential address hahaha so where else will it be? :p

headz ... i applied before directly to QUT for the student visa and got my approval already .. but then i thought why go through the process of studying again for two years so im trying my luck with this BP .. if it doesnt work out (i hope it does though) then i have my QUT offer to fall back

Thanks for the quick response.

There is still the matter of sending the letter of acceptance to an approved program and the ielts results. It was supposedly to be sent to NBV. But since they already have been integrated to AHPRA, I only could guess that these should be sent to AHPRA Victoria. I haven't called AHPRA regarding this matter as I discovered this only this afternoon (that NBV is not anymore active). I really hoped that some of the members here could have asked this to AHPRA.

So does that mean, my application files are not discarded and are in the hands of AHPRA? all they are waiting is the completion of my IRON course?
