New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

hey, trinitian...I am now about to lodge my application..currently waiting for the courier to pick up my documents...:uhoh3: wish me luck....

how about you?

Am still completing my requirements... will have my medical exam this week... my class will start this august 12....

what visa did you apply? who much show money did you present?

thanks a lot drednag

i think CV should really be in English..is that what you meant NurseNathalie?

Actually, I meant if the CV can be translated into English by ourselves.....my mother-tongue is Portuguese, so I can either do it myself or have it translated by a certified person( certified copy...u know what i mean?).....just like all the other official docs: passport, diploma,etc....

in the philippines, we use english in our formal and business documents, so we dont have that problem...

you know how to speak and write english, hence, prepare your cv in english.

now, with regards to your other documents/certifications which i guess are in portuguese, you should not just translate it by yourself, instead have it done by an accredited translator.. pls check/inquire with the australian embassy in your country for said translators..

good luck to you..

oh! thanks for replying cioman!:)

u guys are so lucky to ave all the docs in english already!:o it probably saves a lot of money :twocents:

i was already aware about the certified copies of all the docs and one of my best friend's husband is anaccredited translator...so problem solved:up:

i was just in doubt about the cv being also certified by the accredited translator as well....

thanks and good luck for you, too:nurse:

that's good to know :) i'll try my luck at Mercy then. thank you and good luck on your BP! :)

Good luck! remember the deadline is july 31:) so go ahead and pass your application.

may i ask? why are you interested in applying to mercy?

Hi, I went to WLI yesterday and they are still offering places for the September intake. U can apply online and they respond within hours or the next day. But the conditional offer letter I got have July 15th as a dead line for payment and any other requirements to be met. But I found them to be quite flexible.....

Okay thank you so much but I applied to AAON, they didnt respond yet. :) Do you have any hospital experience?

the only thing that attracted me to mercy is because they assist in finding jobs after the BP. is it true?

just to sum up everything,

for documents which are originally and presently written in portuguese, you need your friend's husband to officially translate it..

for documents which you yourself will prepare or fill up like writing a cv in english, then no need for translator.. because you are the writer/author of such document which you wrote in english..

good luck again and i hope everything will be okey..

i'm currently busy with another transaction:D as something came up. but, hey, i'm still considering taking the Aus BP -i'm just not sure when as of the moment.:uhoh3: I'd probably email WLI today to ask for the extension of my offer at least until the end of July, if possible. If not, there's always the next intake. :)

Yes, I do have hospital based nursing experience. But I don't think that matters at WLI.

Today, 17 July 2010, the FedEx people delivered the good news to me... got my 456 visa multiple entry (3 months each entry) that started yesterday for 12 months... Well, Melbourne, wake me up when October comes! :D :D :D

In this regard, let me extend my heartfelt thanks to our Big Bro here whose valuable information he selflessly shared on this thread, especially on visa matters among others, made it possible for me to achieve such feat... to JavRN, kudos to you! Many thanks, bro!

God is constantly good. Thank you!
