Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
to everyone,im just curious guys, when taking the BP in OZ, can we apply for a tourist visa instead of the 456/business(short stay) visa? because what i know is that it will give us ample time to stay and find jobs after the course, right? and ohh, if there were topics before relating to visa options for international nurses who are bound to take the BP, pardon me.
and by the way, congratulations to those who got slots for this year. I just sent my application to NBV a week ago, I hope they will find me eligible and I will definitely follow the same path you're taking. :)
When we had our BP last year in Perth, some participants had tourist visas but most had 456 visas. The tourist visa given may be valid for multiple travel and usually it is valid for a year but still it will only allow the holder to stay in Australia for a maximum of three months from the date of each arrival. From what I've heard, for a tourist visa to be granted, you must show to the satisfaction of DIAC that you really have money to burn, like your source of income is really high. Payslips and income tax returns can be shown as proof (applicable if you have been working as a nurse in Singapore, KSA, Uk etc., if you are working in the Phils, forget it. 13k a month is not enough). Or that you have a bank account with long history of high deposits, not just a one time lump deposit. Or that you have successful business ( financial statements will do). Or that you are just born rich and your parents are willing to spend a lot of money for you.
The 456 on the other hand, you just need to show that you can support yourself for the whole duration of your business in Australia ( that is your BP program). 2k to 3k AUD/month of your intended stay in your bank account is deemed sufficient. And the approval rate is high especially if you have already paid for the BP. To those of us granted 456 visas, all except one had single entry no further stay condition. One was granted a 456 multiple travel visa, which is like the tourist visa. It permits the holder to travel in and out of Australia for a period of one year, however the person can only stay for a maximum of 3 months. The reason she was given a multiple travel 456 visa, we found out later was that when she filed the 456 application, she ticked the box for yes when asked " do you intend to travel to australia on more than one occasion?" while the rest of us ticked the box for no. She wrote in her application that the reason she is applying for the 456 was to join the BP program AND to look for employment and apply for 457 visa after getting registered as a nurse. So maybe DIAC will just give you what you ask of them. If she hadn't found sponsorship within three months, she could've just gone to Singapore or Hongkong for a couple of days and gone back to Oz and continue her job hunting. To maximise your 456, come to Oz 1 to 2 days before start of your BP. I even arrived the same day. Arrived in Perth 1 am, and the BP program started at 8am. haha. But I couldn't have made it without the help of a friend in Perth.
Hi everyone.. does anybody here knows a consultancy or agency that could help me for AU/NZ.. thank you
If you do your research, or if you are patient enough to back read this thread and other threads for AUS/NZ, you will realise that you dont need consultancy/agency. Just follow the requirements to the letter and you will be successful. That's what I did and i guess i have saved enough money to finance my bumming around australia for almost 6 months. You will also notice that a lot of people have done the same. As of the moment I think most agencies don't know any better yet as the new nmba has not released the new requirements for overseas nurses. This thread has a wealth of information. I have lurked this thread since 2008 back when aelith and the others have actively offered a lot of info re application and immigration. Never even saw the need to post a question since my questions were posted by someone else and i found the answers just by reading the thread. Oh Aelith and branyan and joe turtle and ryan09 and chabeli, sofia26, nursemavi, and some members who are still in the Philippines, thank you so much!
goodluck drednag with your visa application. i heard it should be done in 3 working days, is this true? the ausemb in manila processes visa very fast. if this is the case, i'll lodge my 456 application in manila. did u use via or regular courier?hey dude how much did u pay for the course initially? 50%?
hey newmac, thanks. i will be lodging my visa application next week, im still gathering my documents..and courage..hahahaha...wow, if they process that fast, that's great, dude!
for the course at etea, you will be required to pay an acceptance deposit equivalent to 50% of the tuition fee, within seven days from receipt of the letter of offer. then the remaining 50% must be paid at least 30 days before the intended date of commencement of your course.
im so happy there are a lot of very very useful information being posted here.. thank you, guys!!!:yeah:

Weeks prior to expiration of your 456,specially if it does not have a "NO FURTHER STAY CONDITION" you can apply for a tourists visa to extend your stay, stating your reasons that you wanted to see more of Australia and looking for employer.Case officer who will handle you application knows that once you are taking the BP, the purpose was to find a Registered Nursing Job in the future, and you will be given another 3 months. About the financial requirements its just about 2000k to 3000k they are not very particular with it, since you had proven that you took the BP and you obliged with the conditions of your previous visa. Wish you all the best. Finally RN's i have gone through all of the things that you are into now . I am now happy working here in Adelaide Paediatrics Department and expecting my first forthnight salary soon.Goodluck to your AUSTRALIAN DREAM.
anyone thinking of taking the conversion program of the University of Queensland (UQ) this March 2011? I read up on the school and it seems like a really good one. It's from March - December.
I am considering this and will make my decision after the new rules come in July. Do you guys think jobs will still be available in 2012?
Hi jakey, thats the status of QNC not NBV. Anyway, I'm bound for Mt. Alexander Hospital. Try calling your registration office so you will know your status. Keep me updated with yours.
thank you Gemini_star....my world crashed when I read the post.... I nearly went to a Canadian agency .
NBV wanted the originals of one of my docs. that means, another month of delay , minimum. this will give me time to research on schools. ETEA, vchn, your Mt alexander, Deakin for january 2011..
where is wahine888? the three of us have similar submissions dates, right?
