Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
to everyone,
im just curious guys, when taking the BP in OZ, can we apply for a tourist visa instead of the 456/business(short stay) visa? because what i know is that it will give us ample time to stay and find jobs after the course, right? and ohh, if there were topics before relating to visa options for international nurses who are bound to take the BP, pardon me.
and by the way, congratulations to those who got slots for this year. I just sent my application to NBV a week ago, I hope they will find me eligible and I will definitely follow the same path you're taking. :)
Hi, bro... I'm also bound for ETEA. Apart from bringing in thick clothing for the cold weather there, I'd like to know if their students are required to wear uniforms in class, specifically in clinical placements? If so, do you mind describing what are those and where can we get them while we're still here? And lastly, do students need to bring basic apparatus like stethoscope, sphygmos, etc.? As I understand it's more cost-effective to get it from here. Thanks in advance, bro!
Hello. Just buy your jackets & thermal wear here. For sure you'll find cheap ones here.
Civilian clothes for the classroom. For clinical placement it's the white polo shirt & black or dark blue pants. Just go to your tailor or buy it at SM mall. The white polo shirt is pretty much your regular button down short sleeves polo shirt used by high school students in the Phil. In my case I had mine made by the tailor & chose the thicker kind of cloth, I think it's called Gaberdeen or something. Black leather shoes (make sure it's something comfortable, maybe something with a rubber sole so it won't be too hard on the feet).
It's up to you if you want to bring your own stethoscope, the hospital wards has it anyway so it doesn't really matter.
Stuff to bring/do from the top of my head:
- Socket adaptor - For your cellphone or laptop, the socket here is different.
- Scan your documents for backup.
- Get a TFN (Tax File Number) online when you arrive, open a bank account. You can choose from Commonwealth, ANZ or Westpac etc.
- MP3 player
- Pens, pencil, notebook, & other school stuff that you can think of. It's useful to bring that plastic envelope case thing with a handle & divider available in your local bookstore.
- Multivitamins, over the counter cough & cold, fever medications. Bring the prescription with you in case you have any prescription drugs.
- Petroleum Jelly or Lip Balm to prevent chafing of the lips (if it's still winter) but I found petroleum jelly much more effective.
- Just a reminder, if you'll be flying with PAL, you are allowed to bring (aside from your carry on bag), a handbag, laptop, camera, coat, stuff to read. So make the most out of this. Speaking of laptop, better bring one 'coz it will be extremely useful in research as well as maintaining communication with your lover ones back home. Be sure you have a headset or microphone with your laptop so you can use Skype or YM.
- Books that might be useful would be your Nanda 'coz you'll be making NCPs in the classroom.
- Study on Charting & NCPs, Pharma computations if those are your weak points.
- There are a lot of recitation & what they like when you answer their questions is you know the rationale for it.
I guess that's just it for know, just PM me guys if you have some urgent question. It takes a lot of time sifting through the threads. I hope to see you guys here soon!
hello! your referees will be your BP CIs and your staff nurse buddy during your clinical placement. it is better if he/she is the nurse unit manager of your ward. employer will really call them and ask your performance during the placement...so be good and do your best during your clinical! by the way, ask permission first before writing their names as your referees. good luck!
Thanks for that useful information lecna :):)

Apply for the 456. :) Just fly to Victoria 2 or 3 days before the BP.
Hi guys, I lost track of this thread for about a year so here's a couple of questions just to refresh my memory. Right now I intend to migrate to Oz (again!) with my family, I'm practicing right now here in the Philippines for almost 2 yrs. I need to look for a better paying job so I have to leave nursing. My question is, does ANMC or any state (regulatory commission) require a specific yr of experience before they allow any IEN to take the BP? For those who took the BP recently, how much is your average spending every week?/month?
Thanks and God bless to everyone.
Should I get accepted in unisa I might as well rent a house and furnish it and travel instead coz it's a lot cheaper. Im already making my research on student accommodations (studio unit, fully furnished) in the city and they cost more compared with those in burwood. I'll try my luck there bec it starts by oct 8.I received a mail from nbv today asking me to resend my diploma and it should be in a single page only. Since my diploma is big, I wonder where in Perth can I find a photocopy machine with 'reduce' function. Weird considering nmbwa accepted my diploma in 2 A4 paper put together each certified.
If you have a digital camera, you can take a picture of it. Use the macro function so the letters are readable. you can crop the image paste it in MS word or save it as pdf then print it using your regular printer on A4 paper. and you can have it certified as true copy by a commissioner of declarations in any chemist shop.
goodluck drednag with your visa application. I heard it should be done in 3 working days, is this true? The Ausemb in Manila processes visa very fast. If this is the case, i'll lodge my 456 application in Manila. Did u use VIA or regular courier?
hey dude how much did u pay for the course initially? 50%?
hi everyone...i have not been here for awhile now and just curious how's everybody doing? Got my assessment about 3 weeks ago from nbv, but unfortunately they are asking for more documents like the statutory declaration (for not having any nursing related work experience) as well as the registration with PRC.
Any tips on the stat declaration? How soon after do I get a response once I send them these docs?
Thanks in advance.. =)
