New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

hi! I'm a newbie here. I've enrolled my BP at La Trobe University. Can anyone advise me regarding the accommodation? How far is the school from melbourne? thanks!

WA job vacancy rate is highest

WESTERN Australia has recorded the biggest increase in skilled vacancies - up 74 per cent over the year.

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations skilled vacancies index rose only 1.3 per cent nationally compared with the previous month, but WA reported a 6.1 per cent jump - the nation's highest.

Over the year, WA held the country's top spot with a 73.9 per cent job vacancy rate.

The department today reported a March index of 46.4 points, 18.6 per cent higher than in April 2009.

etc etc...

just want to share

Wa jobs are at the north. They are in desperate need of huge numbers of highly skilled workers because of the oil, gas, and mineral industries.

There's no job in perth. Most of its residents are actually working in the north doing fly in fly out (FIFO). They are the ones who bring money here making this city very rich. But the typical Perth family who's not into FIFO are the ones struggling with everyday expense. There are also people from other states who are doing FIFO. Wa is the reason why aus didn't go into recession. But there are still plenty of unemployed aussies and pr. If you're a 457 here, sorry but city job is very very difficult to come by bec they prioritize locals first when hiring.

Also hospitals here are severely understaffed yet they're not hiring. It's so funny that they shout about nursing shortage here yet they don't hire. Ironically, they resort to agency nurses who are paid more poviding ludicrous business for the agency.

You want job? Go to the north where there's 75% job vacancy. And yep, they do hire fresh graduates. And they sponsor too.

A wielder can find a job here easier compared with a nurse.

Hope this clears everyones mind.

to those who applied to the NBV but haven't heard from them, try emailing them. I emailed them and they confirmed that they've received my application and it is currently being assessed, they told me to just wait for their letter. :D

congratulations! :D may i know how much you spent for the tuition and accomodation etc?

congrats drednag! how much is it? do u have to pay the full fee? is september the next intake [earliest?] or you opted for sept? :) congrats again dude!

@macpao87, jakey and newmac..thanks dudes!!!

Newmac, actually I was first offered a slot in the July intake but I requested for one in September ( I think their intakes are at two months interval).. so I can prepare for all the requirements like the visa, immunisations and also to give enough notice to my hospital employer.

The tuition fee is Aud10,900..acommodation is around Aud180 per week.. I think you just have to pay 50% to confirm your slot then the balance at least a month before the start of classes. I think, all in all, we ought to prepare around Php800K...

Im sure you can still get in, bro..we might still be classmates...go go go!!!:up::up::yeah::yeah::yeah:
