New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

what were the lacking requirements that they were looking for?

forumjunkie,

they asked me to:

1. redo the certification of document because i didn't follow the proper format

2. statutory declaration why my nursing was only 2 years

3. improperly signed work statement - they want the full name of my employer with the complete title/position (not abbreviated)

3. verification of my US license - i didn't send this when i first sent my documents because i thought i only need to send the verification from PRC. It took the CA Board of Nursing 6 weeks to send the verification of license to NBV that's why there was a delay in my application.

i see. thanks for the info. i'm predicting my timeframe for the whole process that's why im asking for yours :) i hope you do well in la trobe and land a job immediately. please dont forget to post updates for us :D

yes i have. i mailed it early-mid april and still have no letter

Congratulations! Chabeli!!!!! nice to hear from u again!

Drednag, congrats to you too (again)! Thanks for the info! Hey, no online application for ETEA?

ETEA application. TWO QUESTIONS: you need to have your visa first before you can apply or to be provided (upon arrival?) ???? Police check? -NBI CLEARANCE?? Apologies for being naive.

Congratulations to all those successful. I'm now considering etea if they assist with employment. Conditions in Vic are a lot better. Wa is hopeless.

How much is accomodation near etea? Is it walking distance?

yes i have. i mailed it early-mid april and still have no letter

ok good luck!

Hi,

I've requested my lawyer to make the statutory declaration for me. He just followed the format of an affidavit. At the same time, I've requested my school to make a written explanation. Yes, you can send this together with your application. My friend did that even before she was requested to avoid delays.

congratulations! chabeli!!!!! nice to hear from u again!

hey, newmac...thanks (again!..hehehe)... i dont think etea has an online application, but you can send your application and attachments by way of email..as long as you have arranged for the payment of the assessment fee..

nope, you dont need the visa when you apply, you need it before taking the course, so you can send your application even without the visa yet...for the police check, i sent the nbi clearance.. :)

terdjay, i was informed that accomodations near etea are from aud 150 to aud 180 per week...

best of luck everyone!
