Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
hi! I'm a newbie here. I've enrolled my BP at La Trobe University. Can anyone advise me regarding the accommodation? How far is the school from melbourne? thanks!
1 hour and 50 minutes by train... it's really far and the fare is expensive... PM me for help in finding you accomodation. im in Bendigo now and will be working at the Bendigo Base Hospital on June.
Hello everyone.. I'm also interested in working in Australia. I don't know where to start although this is already the forum regarding that..in addition, this forum is nearly reaching its 500th page and it would take me days or a week before i could find what im looking for.. Could someone please tell me the initial steps of applying for a nurse position in Aus, or could someone pinpoint me the page that would narrow down my reading :-). I'm from the Philippines, working in the ER for more than a year. I also have my IELTS with 7 all across bands. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!Kudos Nurses ;-)
check nbv.org.au if you want to be a work in Victoria.
congratulations to all those who got in the bp intakes ... a step closer to your goals...more persistence...yesterday, i got a job offer from the hospital already and they are now processing my 457 visa..thank god.. patience pays off... some of my indian classmates went back to india because their visa didn't allow them to extend adn they didn't have employers yet...
some got jobs in aged care @ adelaide and they just converted their license. good for the next batch coz you will have a national license already...
for those in etea, you can apply for a tourist visa because you can still study for 3 months and they will give you either 6 months or 1 year multiple entry. unlike student visa, where they will give you only 4 months because it's only course duration plus 1 month extra.
hey, thanks, chabeli and congratulations on landing a job offer!!!:yeah:
way to go, man!
i am actually contemplating on which visa to apply for, 456 or tourist visa and i am leaning towards tourist visa... your post is the sign i was looking for. kewl!..hahahahaha
thanks again and best of luck on the new chapter of your life:up::up:
Lor_rainew, please give a timeframe from the mailing of the docs to nbv until you have enrolled in la trobe. When are you leaving for bp?
@ forumjunkie
I've sent my application to NBV last sept. 2010. Received letter to comply with further requirements on November. Resent my applications and other documents in late December. The NBV office was close for the holiday season so I received notice via phone that I've eligible to apply for BP on February (my letter got lost in the post and they resent another one in March). Applied at La Trobe via email in mid March. Receive acceptance letter after holyweek (2 weeks after). Enrolled via wire transmittance by 3rd week of april and lodged the student visa and scheduled for medical check-up the following week.
I'm planning to leave for Oz on June 11, 2010
Hope this helps. :)
@macpao87, jakey and newmac..thanks dudes!!!Newmac, actually I was first offered a slot in the July intake but I requested for one in September ( I think their intakes are at two months interval).. so I can prepare for all the requirements like the visa, immunisations and also to give enough notice to my hospital employer.
The tuition fee is Aud10,900..acommodation is around Aud180 per week.. I think you just have to pay 50% to confirm your slot then the balance at least a month before the start of classes. I think, all in all, we ought to prepare around Php800K...
Im sure you can still get in, bro..we might still be classmates...go go go!!!
:yeah:
i guess unlike in New Zealand wer BP Schools are full for the year, Australia has more slots since its more expensive... 800k? is that everything already including airfare? thanks drednag!

hi Chabeli
I couldn't send a PM yet.. Congratulations on your job offer!
anyway, how did you apply for a job? did the school give you list of hospitals where you can apply?
how far is the clinical placement and where did you stay? I'm still have trouble finding my accommodation because most of the rent would require a minimum stay of 6 months.
