Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!

read back and you'd be thankful to all the people who posted. All your queries were already answered before. You only need showmoney if you would study 1 year again here called conversion and that costs 1.5 million all in all. If you have experience just go for the bridging. Coz it's a lot cheaper.
Wow a real 18th century slang. Did you spend a lot of research and time just to write this message? Coz even my brother who's in primary school here can't understand it. He said "bloody slang". But I got your point anyway. Where do you intend to register? Do you have experience as a nurse? Are you a bsn or a diploma? Coz these are where your decision will revolve. If you decided to take curtin which costs 40k dollars then no worries with being your mate. Yayey is enrolling too this July. But if you're short of cash then better yet do the bridging if you qualify.

hello.. i just want to ask what BP means? and if there are hospitals here in Australia where they sponsor overseas nurses in their study? i just arrived here in Australia and i can't afford the fees for enrolled nurse. thank you
BP= bridging program. They call it iron/ircon in nbv. Initial registration (course) for overseas nurse. Bp in wa is through conversion which is one year or through vchn which is 3 mos if you have a year experience. Vchn is a school. Bp costs 10k, conversion costs 23k. When undergoing bp start emailing hospitals and request for sponsorship when you graduate in bp. If you want cheap alternative apply in certificate 3 in aged care and work as a caregiver a path which I doubt. Caregiver is not considered a skill in aus so you won't be sponsored if you're a caregiver. Correct me people if I'm wrong.
You really need to burn money here in aus to be a nurse. There's nothing we can do about it

Where do you intend to register? ----Flinders (IDP recommendation because it is the cheapest in South AU) NBV (your recommendation?)
Do you have experience as a nurse? -----NONE (I passed the NLE last June 2009)
Are you a bsn or a diploma? BSN :)
hope these info will clear things up thanks :)

Okay I decide to took conversion course already because I digging up my lolo's baul and found many valuable antiques and even old coins and cash that I can sell and barter. I am sure I can raise enough money to funding my studies in OZ. I also find many interesting things in my lolo's baul like a book on sorcery, palm reading techniques and some anting anting and agimat. There is also some aged love potions and pamparegla, I finding some old receipts and I think my lolo use to work in Quiapo before. I will master making all this things so I can have part time job in OZ. I give you some if we become mates in OZ. I wishing my NBV approval come soon also so I can have many choices. Okay bye bye now I testing love potions with inday.
hi there. for those people who wants to become independent and choose other countries more than the country where they family reside i salute you all because that was me before.. but i just want to share my own experience. i choose to be here in UK than in Oz where my brother is residing just to fulfill my dreams on my own and not depending to anyone. However, that was the biggest mistake i ever done. you know what you cant trust every Filipino here they might be the one who will let you down. but most people who are successful here are those people who live with their families. but of course every person is unique and we have different kind of future and opportunity. you just have to find yours. but remember blood is always thicker than water. Goodluck to us. treasure your family. in the end of the rocky road they are the only one who will walk with you all the way till you reach the end. Godbless nurses...
it's really a pity that we still have this "crab mentality", typical filipino attitude.. you are right that it is better to have your family or relative at your side, but sadly many nurses are "first generation" migrant, like me, who hopefully would be the 1st generation of my family in Australia (hopefully)..
hope this vicious cycles of crab mentality would ceased, aren't we the only christian country in asia and some of us act this way.. tsk tsk.. good luck to all..

Go for the bp in nbv mate. It's called iron/ircon. You would need 20k aus dollars all inclusive(tuition, accomodation, living). Vchn has a package 17k all in all (not inc. your living and accomodation money). Back read this threat and there's a mountain of info
