New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

its an affidavit of support. like if u have a sponsor(owner of the bank documents), he gives the statutory, stating that he supports u blah, blah....it is a legal document. the lawyer knows that...if u like i can send u a copy of mine( the format)...cant Pm yet...

sunchaser1019 cool! thank u! but i cant pm u either :( hows that possible? :( is it okay to post my email address?

dude, i talked to the one in charge of the BP/Conv program and she referred me to the international office. what they said was that u dont have to go through IDP, because u can lodge it urself at the Au embassy there in UK. the 1st thing u need to do is to apply online ( curtin website,-international future students); comply with the documents needed then apply. once u receive ur Letter of offer, the international office(which by the way is the one who assesses applicants and not the Nursing dept) will guide u on a step-by-step in processing ur visa.

Break a leg!!!

Cheers!!! :)

thank you very much.. well i got bad news i have to have atlist 1.7M pesos in my acount or with my sponsor as my show money for me to be able to have student visa to study in cutin. then i have to pay 11500AUD aside from show money. that's a lot of money isn't it? huhu.. is really 1.7M for my show money? then money for my processing. the total money i should have is 2.2M pesos. hard to have that.. grrrrrrr. ahhhhh what should i do? i thought it's just around 1.5M.

what do you think is VCHN a good choice since they just only required 10000AUD and i dont have to spend lot of money in my bank acount coz the course is just for 3 months.. sunchaser help me to decide... thanks..

oh no, nothing like an access thing. that's waht some people said, but me and a friend just submitted an Aff of support, u know just saying that the money is intended for schooling and living expenses.i gave them a certificate of employment of my tito as well.and hes in new york...bank statement and bank transaction-its a pretty routine thing because when my tito asked the bank of america for it, they knew already which documents to give.and should u know, a sponsor doesnt have to be a Au res, could be anybody else. 3 people taking conversion with me asked their neighbors and local banks (rural banks? ) :)..oh and i will be at curtin this pm. i should have an update regarding your lodgement. cheers!

thanks a lot.. i will now process my application in RPH, HPH, VCHN, murdoch and curtin.. although RPH and HPH dont have program for 2010 i can still wait for 2011 and VCHN have intake every 6 weeks from january 2010 until november 2010. VCHN will have its 4 weeks theory in victoria and 6 weeks theory in perth so i can stiil join them. HPH and RPH im not sure if they continue to offer BP in 2011 but they have shorter program 8-12 weeks compare to 1 year which is very expensive but if i have enough money i would rather be in curtin llike you. anyway if worst come and got no feedback from those three offering BP i will take murdoch or curtin for conversion in february 2011.. i hope ausi will not be stricter that time.. whatever path i may choose it is a fact that we will see each other in perth. and hoping to be both australian nurse soon.. Godbless.. if you have news on what is the best way pls post your news here.. thanks a lot goodluck to us..

hey dont loose hope that fast! the sponsor-for the bank account, u can ask help from other people u know. because u are not really going to use their money.it's just a statement.( of course, statements, transaction, affidavit of support-it's all in the immi site) one girl i know had 4 statements from friends and relatives, all totaling to the required amount.it doesnt have to come from 1 person only. what is important is that u can secure the tuition fee.

i really dunno about victorian college. my classmates here have heard of it and still they chose curtin.but i cant say anything about it since i didnt really took much notice about them. isnt it like they have theory classes in melbourne? and i dunno where the clinical is..u should ask them, u know for logistics purposes...

Hi, lime12...have you tried emailing VCHN? I emailed them and they replied, through an agent connected with them. the agent offers a package...they will assist in processing everything: shortstay visa, application to VCHN, accomodations in Victoria (theoretical) and later in Perth (clinical placement), transportation (except plane fare), insurance, even getting employment and converting the 456 shortstay visa to the 457 employment visa.... a bit expensive though because in addition to the BP tuition of 10K, they charge 7k for the package:crying2:... Im wondering if we can apply without getting the package since I already have a place to stay in Melbourne... anyway, I will email them again...

by the way, do you have your letter of assessment already?

thanks for the infos.. you know what.. personally i like curtin university it is very good university. a premier university. and it is a pathway for PR having a student visa that's why up to now im still looking for relative and fiends who can sponsor me.. because in VCHN i can only have business short visa stay for 3 months i think. theory will be in melbourne and clinical in perth.. i'l try them all since the application is free. anyway you have 1 year student visa right?so you can have part time work for your expenses and can stay in australia until march next year.. so lucky you are..

i hope i will be able to take the august intake in curtin.. do i still have time? i will look for sponsor and they have to maintain their money for 3 months.. i hope i can find one or 3 or 5 hehe.. then i will have to process my visa oh no.. well thanks a lot.. gonna be in australia soon..i hope so..

yup i emailed them and the same reply i recieved from them.. are you applying to VCHN? did you start your application with them? you're right.. i also emailed them if i can only have the work placement and the conversion of visa to work permit and not the accomodation because i have my accomodation in perth.. but no reply yet..

do you heard from someone if the offer of VCHN is really true? we'll if that is true is ok to pay 7K coz you will have a job and a PR soon.. what do you think?

u still have a lot of time. when u come up with the financial requirements, the visa is usually released within 3 weeks...

whatever and wherever u decide on, may u be blessed with wisdom to make the right choice. :)

Cheers!!!
