Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
^No, just to be sure. Anyway, I got a reply from CAS saying I do not need to send the application. And that I was granted QNC approval on November 26 2009 so the new rule about the unavailabiity of modular studies does not apply to me. However, I am still under time constraint and have to finish everything by June 4, 2010.
Mad rush to CAS then!
relax guys, maybe all our application packets are still in their BIG mailroom, thats why they still can not acknowledge it. (this does suck though) if i call NBV about this -that means I have to be awake at around 1:30am just to make sure im the first person they attend to, otherwise it'll be a looooooooooooooooong queue.
@ chabeli...
woah! your words are indeed appreciated! next time do give us the figures -housing costs, transportation, food etc.... hahahaha like a grocery list :)
I wanna hear your AUSSIE ACCENT [NOW]! hahahaha
take care always!
Can I ask anyone to give us a sample of his study sched? I am basically at lost where to start. I have some books, I'm consulting this
http://cas.cqu.edu.au/FCWViewer/view.do?page=653
and yet I still don't know where to start!
Pretty please?
:smackingf We're on the same boat, bro. I thought mine was an isolated case. I corresponded with a customer service officer in NBV and was also told the same thing - that they only received my verification and is still awaiting my application packet. That made me anxious and so I requested that she kindly double check it by giving her the details of the supposed date and time of delivery and receipt of the packet and the person who received it from their office. I also coursed it through FEDEX and their record shows it was delivered last December 15 at 3:07 pm ".Now, I am awaiting for a positive response from the customer service officer. Hopefully, it will finally be traced. We really have to be vigilant with how our paperworks get sent, received, and processed so we'd have a clearer timeline of our projected goals.
yeah...I called up last Monday and they told me that they have a 2 week backlog..so, perhaps they will soon get to our application packets... I just hope we can make it to the January 25 deadline of Deakin..although from the other's timelines (3 months processing), it might be a stretch...still keeping my hopes up...and if not Deakin, there are still other BP providers...
:)

Hi there! I have also just been granted QNC approval on the 13th of December and plan to take the challenge test by Feb as suggested by CAS. May I know what you applied for and what's the cutoff date for the unavailability of modular studies? I wanna know my options should I fail more than two in the test (pls Lord, hopefully not!)
bubblynrs: I applied for registration as RN via CAS. I don't know the cut-off date, just I was told since I was granted November, the rule does not apply to me. However I'd need to pass at least two and have to be done with everything by June 4, 2010.
Are you reviewing? I'm going to start, and don't know where to start...
Thanks!
hey angels in the sickroom, awaiting for my BP to commence on the 15th...
meanwhile im just forcing myself reading (in advance) the books that deakin recommend me to buy...
Pathophysiology book drives me crazy...
anyway, i hope to see filipinos in the class....
ryan, bendigo is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! I'm so bored here! and it's sooo quiet...
@chabelithanks for continuing to update us on the situation. you are like our local news correspondent with the information you provide. to chabeli's gf. how are the daily expense like. could you help us understand and also are you allowed to work. i was wondering what visa you are on and is it the same as chabeli? thanks. are the people nice ?
hi, we are both on student visa so we have 20 hrs maximum of work hours allowed per week. as far as i know only la trobe iron course is cricos-registered (i'm not sure if deakin is) that's why you can opt for a student visa. the other provider like etea did not register their couse with cricos so you're only option is either a 456 business short stay or visitor visa. both those visas do not allow you to work.
chabeli doesn't have daily transpo expenses because where we live is walking distance to the uni. so he walks together with his filipino classmates since we live in the same flat and the other one just on the next door. they bring lunch to school like sandwiches (which i prepare hahaha ) because they spend about $5- $6 per meal in school. i go to the grocery from time to time to cook filipino food w(i get the recipe online and just follow it lol).
our rent for a couple is $170 per week aud while for single students it's $100 per week. we can only stay here until feb 15 because when regular classes resume the resident of this hall will also come back to use it... when i checked online the room rentals or share a house accomodation range from $60-120 per week.
bus fare is $ 4.00 for a full day fare and $ 2.00 for a 2-hour fare (meaning for short trips). train from melbourne to bendigo is $15 per way.
for groceries, it's not so expensive but will come out expensive if you keep converting lol... but more or less still the same in the philippines.

hey, i told you before, bendigo is far from the civilization lol...but its a good regional city though...
why dont you come over here in melbourne while waiting for the class to start...lets circulate around melbourne...
PS: Deakin's IRON program is CRICOS registered...

I think EMS is reliable. You have a tracking number, like Fedex. All my documents - well except for the IELTS result - I sent through EMS.
Question: I emailed my application to CAS and receipt was acknowledged. Do you think I should still send the hard copy anyway to be sure?
