Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
uhm i submitted my application last july 22 then they responded sept 22 bec there are some missing requirements, coz i dont have experience in the phils and they asked me submit a statutory declaration stating why i dont have an experience then i submitted it last sept 30, i received my letter nov 11
hi cath!
I don't have any experience too.
How did you make statutory declaration?
hi, i don't know if that is also needed in the board wher you applied. but if in case needed. you just have to buy the stat dec form in your news agent then write there your explanation why you don't have an experience. then take it to the police station so they can sign it for you. =)
thanks, cath!
I am going to apply in NBV. So, maybe it is needed.
I'll just prepre it ahead. What's news agent? =D

Hi Kit25!!Why do you sound so bitter? I'll pray for you... With the situation here in the Philippines, you can't blame Filipino nurses for trying to land a job abroad. Maybe you don't know the effort, sacrifices, and hard work we put in to be able to go to another country just to practice our profession. On the personal level, I will leave my 8 year old boy so I can take the bridging program because this is my opportunity to better our lives. The thought of me being miles away from my baby is just killing me inside.
The facts (if they indeed are true.) that you laid out are happening all over the WORLD, Job losses, companies closing, hard to find job vacancies. So what's new? and so what? What's your point? We know that already. Can't you just be supportive of your fellow Filipino nurses? People like you make me really sad...
Hi ArmiRN,
I am not discouraging anyone to apply. In fact, I would want u and everyone to be successful with the program. The primary reason I've laid all those cards is for you to be informed and prepared. These are the pros and cons of applying and its up to you decide on your own. Truly, the stories here were uplifting and ecouraging as well and the applicants were inspirational especially those who succeeded. WE have to learn from their stories, good or bad. Best of luck to your application. Hope to see you in Australia.
Sent my IELTS result. How long does it take for CAS to contact me for Part A?And also, how many months should I allot for study? Will three months be enough? I work most of the times, but it's a benign job.
Hello Antigone,
Your application including your English proficiency examination will be assessed by QNC. CAS will not contact your for part A. The Nursing Board will inform you if you will be referred to CAS for assessment. An application packet will be sent to you by the Board and you will have to send this to CAS. This will not take long 2-3 mos as the most for complete application. Have you submitted your NBI? I recommend that you do not give up your work especially if you are in acute care. It will be an advantage for you having experience when applying for a job in Australia. Hope this helps.

applicants who wish to undertake a unit of study that requires clinical practice will require approval from the course coordinator and will need to meet the requirements of the hospital assessment of competency and registration requirements of the nurses board of victoria. -(the program requires electives or clinical practice exclusive of the 1.5 years of study to be approved by the course coordinator. meaning, the program will take more if someone decides to do the electives. the placement would require at least a victorian temporary registration).

this is an excellent source of information. the misconceptions have been cleared. thank you for posting.
to those who are taking CAS, how long did you wait for the assessment result from QNC? how many months? i'm really getting anxious guys.. Good Luck to us!
Hi kye09,
Incomplete application can delay your application as I believe the board convenes once a month to assess and decide international applications. If you think yours is complete, it wouldn't take that long. All the best.
