New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Thank chabeli,

I have another question, i went to the PRC today and when i asked at window c for the state verification they sent me to window 16 since Victoria was not asking for a verification of status rather they were asking for a certificate of good standing. I went and was told to return because the person who was in charge of it was in Gensan. I was wondering what if I went to the right window, i showed them the application and they said that i needed to go to window 16 since it was indeed a certificate of good standing..

For those who applied for this.. Am i asking for the right form ?

Has anyone received anything from QNC? I am so scared that my letter is lost somewhere.. Please don't think that I'm selfish to ask this but i was just wondering..

Hi folks! Hey nyk, I was about to ask the same question. Has anyone here who are expecting their assessments anytime last week or this week received theirs already? I'm also worried that mine's lost too or what... I know our countrymen are suffering greatly during this time and I don't want to sound selfish but I'm thinking, what if our letters are lost or floating... somehwere?

Anyway, again, I hope everyone's safe and sound including your relatives and loved ones. God bless us all!

Hi guys! I think I'm the last to receive my assessment so far. It was posted in the mail on Sept 8 exactly three months and 6 days from the day that QNC dated my acknowledgement. It was received and stamped by MNL post office on Sept 17 and I received it Sept 22.

I hope that helps you somehow...

I hope, too, that everyone's well!

generally it depends on what the nursing board is asking, either a verification of license or cert. of good standing.. they are siblings but are different, that's why you are referred to that window 16.. btw, are you referring to PRC Davao City? Good luck..

About the Manila floodings, hope everyone's okey and safe... Btw, i have already made my donations, it's good karma ya know, which we all need right not now vis-a-vis our applications..

stay safe to all..

Been donating all i can, just scared that normally in emergencies the next couple of days will be crucial since people will be facing health problems, I personally haven't seen my brother yet he was trapped in pasig .. Hope you guys are all ok..

Hi Chabeli and Cioman

thanks for the info.. yup we should all pass around what we can and help those in need. I do hope the coming days and the storm that is in the country now will not worsen the condition for those affected by flood.

I was actually referring to PRC Manila, does the same window exist in PRC Davao. Stay safe guys..

ok.. i hope you pass the ielts.. i just lodged my application 2 weeks ago. took the ielts already last june and passed it..so it took 8 months to process your application.. isn't that too long? were there any problems with your documents that it took that long??? thank you for your reply..

hello ynes...ummmm im new here..i really dont know hot to exactly look for your email...id like to ask questions regarding the australian application. Hope you can help me. We really need guidance with regards to this.

ps. if you have any idea about ASNM/ASNC, please share it to us.

thanks a lot. please..

hi! indeed when i went to their office here in Davao, ANSM-ASNC is closing their CAS applications on the 30th of november. I am high on my toes right now because of the pressure if i will enroll in their consultancy program. I really need advices guys. please if you can help me. Im a nov 08 NLE passer and i only had at most 2 months of hospital experience before i went on leave for my NCLEX review. I just decided to take the NCLEX in advance as i know it will come in handy soon. But as of now, considering america's tight retro issues, im looking at Australia as my option. And with the CAS program shutting down in 2 months time makes me feel nauseated...waaaaaaaaa..

please guys...

EVery bit of your response is really appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

You can apply directly to the Board where you want to register. ASMC is just a consultancy that assists you on your applications; It is not the CAS program from Australia that will close. You have to ask directly from the Board of Nursing in Australia whether they will continue to accept applications for assessment. Things may have changed because probably they are preparing for the National registration which will take effect on June next year.

hi, our PRC have "common" window (e.g. like general ward instead of specialized ward, :D).. here, i have to specify whether i would like a verification or good standing..
