Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hi Ryan,I applied already in LaTrobe for January intake, but I haven't receive Letter of Offer yet...
I emailed Mt. Alexander and they replied that February intake is full, next intake will be in May.
Ryan, how many hours of travel by bus, from Melbourne CBD to Bendigo? Just to have some idea...
Thanks...
I agree on us guys being classmates! Ryan, why do you need a Feb intake? Why not January?
btw, Ryan, if you have time to check the papers there, please check if there's a good chance of finding work in Bendigo for my gf? she can get work rights there while I'm on student visa since we will be declaring a de facto relationship.
your course provider will have a specific list for the vaccinations that they will require from you. In my case, MMR, Varicella, Hep A, Hep B booster, DTaP. The bridging course was quite difficult. You have tasks to accomplish, paper works, and you have to prove you are practicing SAFELY in the clinical placement.
hi dudzy,
may i ask something about your nursing experience considering that you easily get hired...
how many years experience do you have? is it volunteer experience? is it "training" experience? or paid employment experience?
at least the rest of us will have an idea of the level of experience and competencies that we may have to reach..
thank you.. hope you'll be patient with the rest of us..

hi Farah, it would be good to apply for Bendigo myself but its too far for me... Bendigo is 2 hours by train/car/bus...but i will try to enrol once deakin wont offer me any position in their intake...when is the closing of application at latrobe anyway?
im afraid to enrol in their May intake as the national registration will take effect in july next year. just wondering would it still be valid if we finish the BP 1 month after the national registration body will take over the NBV...well, actually i asked nbv about this concern of mine and they cant answer me with a specific/exact answer as they dont know what will really happen after the national registration will take effect, there could be new policies that will incorporated to the existing ones or some policies would changed...so its better for us to have the BP done before july 2010..:)

i just want a february intake as i have a full time job and my employer wont let me resign from my job in january as it is a busy month (well im trying though)...how much is latrobe guys? when is the deadlline?
hey, im confused with your visa. what kind of visa do you have? does your visa permits your gf to work? how many hours of work is she allowed to work? if she is allowed to work then she might just loook for a part time or casual job first, depends what qualification your gf have? is she a nurse too?
PS: for those who are planning to enrol at Bendigo...go to wikipedia.com and search for Bendigo...just for you to have an idea of what the place is somehow...:)

La Trobe's course fee is 9850 AUD. and when i spoke with the admission officer 2 weeks back, when i got my NBV letter, she just told me that I have to apply ASAP but did not give a specific closing date.
A student visa allows the student and his/her partner to work 20 hrs /week. If my gf can't find a part time job or casual job within the 2 weeks that she is there in Australia, she will just come back. She is not a nurse. Teacher by profession but works as manager in a call center.

then she can apply in a call centre then part time job...a lot of call centres here...but she has to work in melbourne though as i think theres no call centres in bendigo...she just have to search for call centre companies over the internet as most of them requires applicants to apply online and have their online skills assessment done through the internet...:)
alright, i might send application to la trobe...i will send application to deakin uni on monday..:)
anyone here who will be doing their BP at deakin????
