New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

ryan09: thanks for answering my querries :) how thoughtful of you... u mind if i add u in my friends list? would also love to chat with you through ym ... thanks again!

sure...no worries sunmoonlight...just PM me your email address...:)

is it true that the CAS program will be closing by November?? there are some rumors from CAS agents here in the Philis I thought this will happen in july 2010 but I never thought that this would happen sooner...

Hi UR49, alot of us are still waiting for our assessments..i was wondering where did you hear this from ?

I think QNC will post it in their website if the rumored news is true...but i cant find anything about it in the website so it might not be true...:)

by the way, is there anyone here who is applying or have applied at Deakin uni and/or Mercy Health?

Thanks bubblynrs and chabeli for the tip..i wait after ramadan and see what the post has for me..seems alot are still waiting for their assessments..

You're welcome nyk... and just in case you plan to check it out, it's not classified as registered mail but as ordinary air mail... Good luck to all of us

I have read it from a forum here in allnurses, an CAS agent told the nurse that CAS will only last until November so he/she must hurry up.. I think it's just a threat or gimmick for nurses to immediately decide on signing to that agency. Thanks guys! I hope all of us will make it!

Regards,

UR49...

guys bad news!!!!!!

i have emailed the qnc about the end of the cas and this is there reply:

at this stage, they are making no further referrals to cas after 1 january 2010, due to changes to national registration on 1 july 2010. no further information at the moment, as pending further information from the national implementation team re processes and policies which will apply.

i have to send my documents really fast or else i might end up in a mess!!!

we have only till january huhuhu...

we have to alert all the nurses who wants to proceed with the cas

hi ryan, my first choice was deakin u and i contacted them a day after the set deadline at sept 7... they told me january intake is closed and that they can process me for May.

^^

hi chabeli, thanks for the information, i also rang Deakin Uni, and they can assist me for the january intake as i am a Permanent Resident of australia...

but im not yet decided as to where i will do my BP, im still looking for a cheaper one...:D

by the way, my fellow nurses just a bit of information, I rang Victorian College of Health and Nursing and they told me that their next intake is in November 2009, (subject to change, as i think they are looking for a minimum number of students applying for the course, if the minimum number is reached they will pursue the november intake but if the number of student isnt enough they will advice the applicants to apply for their january intake...)

i also rang Mercy Health, i think their next intake would be in january or february next year.

La Trobe university is conducting the IRON in their Bendigo Campus, Bendigo is a bit far, its even farther than University of Ballarat...:) but its a nice regional city...

hey ryan, where is the location of Victorian College of Health and Nursing and how much is their course fee? Keep me posted about cheaper bps... La Trobe is a lot and it means, i gotta stretch the family's finances... it could really help if we can find a less costly BP. thank you!

Hi guys! Thanks for those who replied to my very anxious post a while back! Long-time-no-see too hehehe... I've been out-of-town for three days so I haven't had the chance to log in here. Anyway I emailed QNC last thursday (through specific enquiry) and told them about how worried I am about my assessment. I've said that I am not hurrying them up or anything about my assessment but that I am just worried that our postman might have misplaced or lost my assessment. So I asked them IF have they already sent one out for me? The good news is that they still haven't sent out any correspondence since my acknowledgement letter so at least I know that my assessment letter isn't just lying out there somewhere in some postman's drenched bag or stuck in some corner in one of the post offices here. The bad news is that why is my assessment from the Council taking so long? Okay, I will now count July 2 as my day 1 since that's when they supposedly received my police and NBI clearance. Hay....
