Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
hi chabeli...i read your posts.. i want you to know that if you plan to get your visa its definitely 456.. im sure of that.. its intended for the bridging program really.. dont worry you wont be given the restriction of no further stay.. i called the australian embassy before i applied for my visa.. its definitely not a student visa for us going for the 13week bridging course because its not a CRICOS course..im 100% sure of that because i verified that information with the visa assistance for the australian embassy... so i suggest you get visa 456.. i hope i was able to help..
Ok, dudzy... If that's the option, i'd go for that...so you mean i can still apply for further stay because im sure the christmas break is 2 weeks of no-class ? but why does it say this in the DIAC website?
Extending your stay
You cannot extend this visa after you arrive in Australia. If you need to stay longer than three months for business reasons, you should consider other visa options.
So what do we do after the 3 months has lapsed? apply for visitor visa before it lapses?

Actually, Dudzy is right that ETEA's course is not CRICOS registered - only University of Ballarat and another big university was registered (forgot the name sorry.. I think it's Deakin). You should really talk to DIAC about the 456 visa option because as far as I know, 456 is strictly 3 months per stay only. There is a 456 multiple entry visa, however, the 3 months stay still applies so you would have to go out of the country and then come back to have another 3 months stay - that is how it works. Now, if your course will have a break for 2 weeks during holidays, then I am guessing you will have to go out of the country during that time and then come back to have another 3 months valid stay (this can only be done if you have a multiple entry visa). I suggest exiting in NZ will be cheaper than going back to PI again.
hi dudzy...thanks for that one...by the way, did you enquire also the working privilege of 456 visa..i didnt understand the highly specialized and non-ongoing...whats the example of it?...can you please enlighten me?sorry for so much queries...
you might want to refer to this:
working
work is generally not allowed, however, you may be allowed to engage in limited work if for example it is highly specialised and non-ongoing (generally less than six (6) weeks).
you must not undertake work that can be done by an australian citizen or permanent resident.
for more information about your work rights on this visa, you can contact an office of the department.

unless you are highly specialised in one specific field and that the job is less than 6 weeks, you cannot work. and with the additional requirement that you must not undertake work that can be done by a citizen and pr, you are looking at the smallest chance of being allowed to work - especially with recession in place and the very specific requirements. in general, 456 visa holders are not able to work unless you can comply with the very strict work requirements.
hope that enlightens you.
Now i am confused.. can someone break down the visa for QNC and VIC.
If i am going to do the CAS PART B in QNC and want to wait for my results with some sightseeing what visa do i apply for..
IF i am in VIC..doing the bridging program wat visa do i also apply for ?
What did the others do in their CAS in QNC what visa did they get ?

If you are going for CAS, then you only need to apply for a 456 or a 676 (tourist visa). Those visas are good for 3 months. That is more than enough for you to finish the Part B plus sightseeing.
If you are going for a BP in Victoria, it will depend on which provider you are going to enroll with and what visas are available for you. For example, the Uni of Ballarat and Deakin have CRICOS registered BPs so, you can apply for a student 575 visa for those. The others however, have to be 456 or 676 if i'm not mistaken.
You don't really have to be confused since you have to ask your BP Provider first what visa you can apply for. You don't just pick a visa and lodge it as you may just end up getting rejected by applying for a wrong visa subclass.

hi guys, what did i miss? hehehe, been actually busy with IELTS review. Now the more i think about it, the more I am convinced that I will just lodge my QNC-CAS application on my own... I'll just have to take my IELTS and wait for the results. Sorry no time to backread but, how long is QNC's allowed time for me to submit my IELTS just in case I didn't include my result with my application papers (tor, diploma, application form, etc.)? Do I get like, 3 mos? And one more thing, to those who already passed the challenge test A and have gone to QLD already: How much time did QNC give for you to go to QLD for the practicals? Like for example, if one passes the written and gets a letter form QNC stating that he or she can already go to QLD, do they give you like 3-6 mos? Or is there already a specific date and institution indicated for your QLD practicals (either the 1 day or the 4 weeks)?
Thanks!
for those planning to go to victoria....IELTS requirement will be 7 in all component starting July 1, 2009 http://www.nbv.org.au/web/guest/overseas-language-requirements

If your documents are complete now, I suggest you pass your application since the waiting time for QNC is a bit longer nowadays. You can always follow up the IELTS result later anyways so don't worry.

Hi Aelith, i called the embassy earlier today , the Australian Embassy in Manila...i was kinda disappointed because the lady (Filipino) i was talking to was obviously just dependent on the website info and could not answer whether it can be prorated or not... She instead ran me through the checklist which i already read (and the one you posted as link)...it wasn't the info i needed....
she then asked me if i can just email them and i told her i did about a month ago and didn't get a reply until now....so finally, she just told me to just lodge the application with a prorated calculation of the requirement but that she wasn't really sure bout it....
anyway, i guess i'll just hve to prorate it anyway, i don't have a choice. 12k AUD is too much for a show money....ill try 350k for both of us.
