New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

i called etea regarding that matter.. they advise to be in australia just 2-3 days before the course commences.. the number of days for the course is 87 days only so adding up 3 days that totals to 90 days..hehehe

got that. thank you. me, i guess i really have to go for the student visa because if i enroll in October there'll be a christmas break so it's included in the count right? are you in victoria? i'm in PI but i was in Melbourne in 2005 for a quick vacation. did you pay your tuition fee using credit card? I would want to be in the same class as you but unfortunately, my papers wouldn't be ready yet by that time. let's keep in touch! and tell me about the class. :)

by the way, dudz... in counting 87 days -is that just the days where you have classes? or does that include the days where you have no classes?

hi dudzy,

thank you for promt reply...its quite expensive....i am still thinking about it...it only means i have to spend half a million.all n all including the travel and accomodation..whewww...by the way are u a 2nd courser as well? didnt u have problems with the assesment... i am still waiting for my assessment as a 2nd courser.

im not a second course.. so far everything went well with my documents, all on time based on the processing times that they gave me, it was even earlier than i expected..

they dont accept credit card payments.. i kept on asking them if i can pay through credit card because its the easiest way... they gave me their bank account details instead.. so the cheapest, easiest and safest way to pay (in my case) is through telegraphic transfer to their bank account.. il keep in touch and update you (if everything goes well).. il still lodge my visa application this week or next week..

im not so sure about it.. it was written in the offer letter that the duration of the course is 87 days.. i will confirm that with etea..

thank you so much dudzy....goodluck..i hope to see you someday...by the way,i went to melbourne last feb 2009 and stayed in mulgrave....keep in touch

hi! i am quite confused in this part.. to apply for NMBWA, the only thing i have to ask from PRC is the certificate of good standing? do i also need to ask for authenticaton of board cert & prc license from prc and have these docs sent by them together with cert. of good standing?

dudzy, where will you be staying in melbourne?

il be staying with my cousin when i get there but quite far from heidelberg but nearer to frankston hospital..

I'll be staying with an in-law (so no relation), do we need to get documents from them saying ?--something like they are going to sponsor our accomodation? and if you don't mind, how much money should we have on our banks? i am anticipating my bank account will be close to drained if i have to pay the course fee in cash --i was hoping to pay in credit card so i can at least pay in increments.

also, how long did you get a letter from NBV after you lodged your application? i still lack the IELTS which i will take on the 30th. that's the only missing document to follow in my application.

i dont think you still need to ask for letter of sponsorship from them.. just have enough funds for your stay there.. as told by an agent, $4,000 is enough for the 3 months stay.. they sent me the letter after 3 weeks from the time the payment was posted and to the time they emailed me that they sent the letter, add 2 weeks for the mailing. 5 weeks in total..

hi dudzy...

i realized Heildelberg is too far from where i am supposed to live so i guess i really have to rent a room...Please keep in touch as i might be consulting you with some things....

if ETEA turns out good, then i'd shoot for it in October......

i am also considering Deakin in January 2010 --- well only because i can pay the tuition by credit card but if the funds i am expecting comes by July, i will go for ETEA although i'll be watching out for your review, hhahaha...anyway, thank you...wishing you all the best....

to cvic.... i got your message but i don't know how to reply back yet or maybe i am not yet able to PM back, lol.... yup, i've already sent through FEDEX my requirements to the NBV and IELTS to follow....
