New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

hi dudzy...i will enroll in october 2009 since i don't think my papers will be ready by june since i am applying for student visa.... do you have your student visa already?

thank you for replying.

guys why arent you enthusiastic in enrolling at Ramsay Health Care? they have the most cheap BP cost in victoria...and the possiblity of absorbing you in their workforce once you have completed the BP... :twocents::D

I was in contact with them the past weeks.. Need to send to them the original nbv letter and original ielts trf.. then u still have to wait for their affiliate hospital (which you nominate) to accept you for an interview.. as for etea, you will do the cllinicals at frankston hospital and there's a possiblity of early exit (9 weeks). The staff at etea are really accommodating, answers emails promptly and very nice to talk to.. You can send applications and required documents through email (saves a lot of time and money).

hello

anybody knows..how is the interview being done in a nominated hospital in victoria and what to be expected in the interview.....thanks

hi dudzy, why not a student visa ? the course IRCON will run for 13 weeks although there is possibility of early exit. if im not wrong, the short stay is 3 months only. yes im a nurse but got no experience yet.

thats what etea advised me to get, the business short stay visa.. they told me that is the visa their students got for the program..

but it only allows you a maximum of 3 months and you have to arrive in melbourne a few days before it commences (if you're still in PI).

i called etea regarding that matter.. they advise to be in australia just 2-3 days before the course commences.. the number of days for the course is 87 days only so adding up 3 days that totals to 90 days..hehehe

hi dudzy,

have yu enrolled yourself already with etea? how much does it cost? did you have an interview? what is the content of it? can you please hel me.

yes, im enrolled already... spent AU$10,600 for the course fee and $250 for the application fee.. i was not interviewed anymore..

hi dudzy,

thank you for promt reply...its quite expensive....i am still thinking about it...it only means i have to spend half a million.all n all including the travel and accomodation..whewww...by the way are u a 2nd courser as well? didnt u have problems with the assesment... i am still waiting for my assessment as a 2nd courser.

oki doki! My gosh! its really that long huh?! I read a few threads back that the waiting time is around 2 1/2 months for those who submitted last year.. Gosh! I hope it will be that fast for us. I have not yet heard from them. My only concern is I sent my verification of license via snail mail (20 days accdng to PRC). I am banging my head now for not opting for FEDEX which costs 1200 I think. Argh!

Word of advice by the way for those who are applying for verification of license in PRC. If you are not from Manila, if you have some financial resources, better do your verification in PRC Manila. After applying for verification, they will ask you to return after one week. By then, everything is done and ready to be sent to OZ. They will ask you what mode of sending will you like to choose. Please choose the fast mode (i think its fedex). Don't be like me who is a tightwad.. hahahaha! Now I am suffering in anguish wishing I sent it via the fast way..

Hi Viamarie:

Thanks so much for your posts!

I am currently applying for CRNBC(canadian Registration nurses BC). The thing is, they also need my license verification which i filed last march 8 or 9, 2009 in PRC Cebu. (i was a Nov NLE 2008 passer) So of course when i applied for registration, much to my dismay (literally, my jaw dropped) they told me that i can get my license in 5-6 months. the License is a requirement for the "license verification form" (it's a 1-page form) that CRNBC has that must be filled up by PRC officials. After which , the PRC official will directly send it to CRNBC in Canada. T

Here lies my problem, 5-6 months for license to be release. in other words that form will be filled up after the 5-6 months? I feel, theres too much waste of my time ... You did mention that if one has the extra resources, do this license verifcation in manila. Is it appliable to my case? I don't mean the "board exam passer certification" with the ratings etc... Did you have such "license verification form" also from the Australian Nurses assoc. etc? Im just looking at all possibilities here to make the process faster...Youre right, smaller provinces takes sooooo much longer...

Thanks again and hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers!:specs:
