New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hi everyone. It's good to know that there are people who are interested in Queensland. I have lodged my application last month and received their confirmation dated Aug. 27, 2008. The QNC did actually received my application last Aug. 15, 2008. I have already requested IDP to forward my IELTS results to QNC all at the same time. I would want to take the challege test and is actually on the progress of doing so. I have tons of rview materials downloaded from the net including laws, healthcare system, professional ethics, etc. I badly need to pas the exam to lessen my cost. I cnt afford $902 Australian dollars for a single module. Is there anyone here who took the module and is on the process of completion? Please PM me your e-mail because I don't still have PM capabilities. I badly need your help.

And for the Part B? I know that you have to do this in QLD. But I guess one can apply for a short stay visa rather that a trainee visa. It's difficult to obtain sponsorship for trainee visa. You can actually apply for a visit visa or a short stay visa. A short stay is valid for 3 months. and since the part B will only take a day (if You pas it) and the longest is a month, then you can actually convert your visa by looking for an emplyer to sponsor you upon receiving your registration. However, if that is not possible, then you have to go back to your home coutry and better apply for immigrant visa through ANMC. Please anyone shed a light on this?

For Part A challenge test, please help for rview materials. I don't know where to start. I have the QLD Nsg Act of 1992, drugs ,etc.. etc... Please help.

hehe... sorry for the confusion!! My relatives are in beenleigh.

I will be starting my review for IELTS this month then hopefully take the exam by november or so.. I am hoping that I wouldn't have much difficulty with it because I am in the field of teaching english right now!

Is it possible to contact hospitals in the area that offers sponsorship for nurses coming from different countries such as the phils?I read one from a vertaon hospital in queensland that offers this but they require at least a year of experience and a passing score in IELTS!

hay... so hard.. confusing!!

Thanx so much!!!!

Hi helena...

What are your plans really? Sorry, but I don't know why you need sponsors when you are going to enroll in a pre-registration Nursing program. After the 2 year program, you can apply for permanent residence.

However, if you're going for the CAS program then you should really consider sponsors. And yes, most hospitals and agencies prefer experienced nurses -at least 1 year.

I have a question about some attachments in the application: Did the notary public or school registrar certify your TOR to be true copy of the original? Plus notarized it at the back?

Beenleigh is on the southern part. The closest University is Griffith (Logan campus). ACU would be the farthest. QUT is far too. UQ doesn't offer a 2 year program or you might want to consider applying for a double degree and maybe you could be credited for 2 years then you'll be able to finish the course in 2 years too.

to kit25:

Some clarification: Do you mean QNC received your application and ielts results on August 15 and then you received confirmation letter from QNC to take TEST A on August 27? Wow, that was a very quick/fast approval from QNC (cause normally i believe it will take 2-3 mos for the approval), Well thats good to hear and congrats. God bless and good luck for TEST A.

Hope this could help. I found this in another thread. This topics you have to research if you will be doing it on your own. (Queensland)

Hi! You might have misunderstood me. They've received my application last Aug. 15, 2008 and I was able to receive the acknowledgement receipt last Aug. 27, 2008. With your question on transcript, yes, the notary public notarized it at the back of the document.

PM me your e-mail so we can discuss this thoroughly. I have not undergone the part A yet. I am also a June 2006 passer and explained this to the Council. Well, they mailed me a letter of acknowledgement for explaining the circumstances with the June 2006 licensure examination. I have also notarized my VisaScreen, CGFNS Cert. and US Board Cert and license to practice and sent them all along with the application packet. Guess what? I was chosen for a criminal background audit and have to send them a notarized copy of my NBI clearance. My name was sent to the QLD police Service but reassured that this will not delay the processing. Its fine with me. I don't have skeletons to hide. That's why I laid all the cards.

Hi. My lawyer notarized it the way they are notarizing most Philippine documents (telephone numbers and addresses are not included). I have personally inquired this with an agent from ANSM and said that it would be fine if you don't include the address and telephone numbers. Most of their nurse applicants were accepted. Howver, I suggest that you still input the adddress and telephone numbers as requested. As of now, I don't have any notifications coming from them that I need to supply these information. I would be glad to present them my original documents also for verification purposes.

I sent the application via registered mail. It took about 15 days. If you have enough, you can use the postal service's EMS. That's roughly 600 pesos for Australia and it will take about a week to arrive in the PO box address. I strongly, recommend that you use the PO box address, because this is the address for correspondents. I think the Charlotte address is used when you have to visit their office.

I will update the forum about the whereabouts of my application. Please let me know if you have questions.
