Nevada NCLEX-RN Application - Fresh International Graduate

I went to Middle School and High School in California. I also had a one semester in College there. Eventually, I decided to move back to Philippines and finish my college. Obviously, I took up nursing.

I just graduated last April 2013 in the Philippines. I am a dual citizen - US and PHL. I've read and heard about the new law in Nevada wherein local license is required. Since I am a fresh a BSN graduate, I do not have a local license yet but I have no plan on taking the PNLE.

However, I still decided to apply in Nevada. I already started my CGFNS and planning to take TOEFL exam asap. I also passed my application papers then received my fingerprinting forms few days after.

My brother, a US citizen, took his NCLEX right after his graduation and passed it first time in California. As far as I remember it was during 2009 so he was lucky that he did not go to the strict and harder application process nowadays especially in California.

He suggested that I still should try in Nevada despite of the new law as do the same thing he did when he applied in California. Wherein, when the BON looks or/and asks for your license, the best way is to send them a letter explaining that you do not plan to work there (PHL) and you are a US citizen. By the way, I have two brothers who have done this and it worked.

The Nevada BON sent another letter to me saying that they are waiting for my CGFNS and TOEFL results. So far, I am going with the flow and plan to give it a shot.

Any suggestions?

3. For your quick reference, below is a list of the steps international

graduates need to take. Please do not use this as a substitute for carefully

reading and following the application instructions.

1) Apply for the CGFNS-CES*.

2) Apply for validation of English language proficiency**

3) Complete and submit the application for RN/LPN licensure.

4) Complete and submit fingerprint cards.

5) After receipt of the CGFNS-CES report and English language proficiency, apply

to take the NCLEX.

what documents i will send first and wait for the confirmation?? do i have to send the fingerprint card, application for RN and english language in one? what will i send first and whats next

Follow my previous post as 1-2-3-4-5. DO not apply to pearsonvue yet. Wait until you get the OK from the BON. So starting point would be CES report with CGFNS

It's toefl ibt for Nevada. I'm still working on too with my English proficiency test.

Hi, I'm a bit confused. In the application form for Nevada(NCLEX-RN), In section 1 there's this question " I last practiced on this date?: __/__/__ and in what state?".It also says that I must indicate a date & phrases such as today and currently will cause a delay in processing the application. I graduated in the philippines and I don't have any work experience yet but I have a local license. What do I write?

Hi! I'm a graduate of 2011 but only came here at the end of 2012. As usual I got rejected by Cali because of concurrency issues. I couldn't look for schools in California that would just let me take Med-Surg or OB. I applied for Nevada NCLEX and got accepted without any issues. Some applicants were required to take up Med-Surg and thank goodness CSN offers just these subjects. I took the TOEFL but CGFNS actually has an english exam that is far easier. During the long application process I started working as a Paramedic in Glendale, CA and referred some Phil-RN friends to that job.

I started working as a RN here in Las Vegas by September 2013 and I like living here cause everything is much cheaper compared to LA. Oh and it's hard to get a job as a new grad in a hospital here because there's an influx of local graduates.

Did you have to take another MS and OB class to take the nclex? And what is CSN? I graduated on 2013 and have a local license and a dual citizen. Do you think nevada brn will give me a hard time trying to apply to take the nclex thanks @sakygen

I didn't take any other subjects but my co workers told me some of their former classmates were RNs from the Philippines who were required to take MS II at CSN (College of Southern Nevada). I don't think you'll have a hard time if you got all their requirements like CGFNS-CES and english exam. They answer the calls instantly unlike Cali BON who puts you on hold for an hour.
