Hi all!!! Is anyone out there applying for the Nurse Education Loan Repayment for 2011..I came across the thread for 2010 but was just looking for some additional support...ahhhh!!!!!!!! Its so stressful!
Thanks!
I just found this blog it is helpful for me to know im not the only crazy one out there....I received an email on july 14 from the gold team, i live in illinois, my debt/ratio is approximately 160% i havent heard from a representative at all. an award letter would be fabulous anytime.... i am planning on making my regularly scheduled payment for the 2 yrs along with the award funds so i may not have to do a 3rd year.....OF COURSE THAT IS IF IF IF IF I GET AN AWARD. i am trying to stay positive. please post when you receive your letter.
considering there are so many of us who have heard nothing, including myself, I would not be concerened if I actually received an email, which I have not. I believe all of you will get your money eventually but if you read blogs from prior years youll read about an end to their fiscal year which means it could delay the beginning of your award, at least that is what I read in posts from prior years. No one has posted that they were notified this past week yet, has anyone out there received an email this week? Just keep hoping here in ohio 105%.
Hi everyone,
I have been following this blog for awhile but have never replied before. I took the advice and lead from some of the other nurses on here. I received an email on 7/14 with the contract, banking info and notice of still wanting the loan. I am on the Gold team @ 208% from texas. Anyway, as I was saying I decided to do what others had done and respond to the original email sent from Gold team. I decided this b/c 1. I had not checked my email in several days and was late in seeing I had received an email and 2. when my husband faxed over the 3 documents he did not put my ATT person on the fax. ( could have killed him). So I sent an email basically saying hey... am I disqualified for faxing my stuff in 3 days late and also did you actually receive it? I got a response almost immediately from a Richard C. who stated that yes the information had been received and went on to tell me I was already awarded and would be receiving a contract in a "couple of days", he said to keep me from the suspense he would tell me my actual numbers. I was so excited. He did stipulate that this was unofficial; however it was a great relief. Then every day I have waited for the mail and it has not come I have wondered if maybe he got it wrong or just thought it would be funny to lie:) My crazy mind at work. One of the things I did realize however was that the total amount counted towards the 60% was about $40,000 short of what I actually put in. and then the taxes ate my lunch; however I feel so blessed to be receiving anything I can't complain. I just wanted to put this out there to all you. I know this feeling of waiting is stinky and I am so ready to be done with this! I do have a question? Can you apply for the repayment program more than once if you are actually awarded? I know that is a little ridiculous to ask but even with the money I could potentially receive for a 3 rd year obligation I will still probably be about 180% in debt when it all said and done. Sad isn't it. Thanks for reading my rant. Just thought I would share since so many nights this blog has been my only comfort!
Also for those still waiting on an email, have heart! its not over yet! and remember even if your not awarded you can always try next year. I had a friend that applied 2 years in a row and finally got the much wanted email.

Sully, 40000 less???? Holy cow! That's an insane amount less! Were all of your loans qualified?? I am getting even more nervous now...partly because the waiting sucks and also cause I'm afraid the amount will be so substantially less than I'm anticipating that I'll still be in a lot of debt after this whole thing is done and over w! So what percentage of taxes gets taken
out?
Sully I'm sorry I read your post wrong! So basically not all your loans counted right? And your question about reapplying after this time isn't stupid at all...in fact, I was curious about the same thing! I would think you could reapply again as long as you still owe greater than 40percent of your annual salary! At least I would hope so!!
BeachPrincess - I was the one who had originally mentioned the red team, only because I had called HRSA weeks ago, looking for information and I had asked them what the teams meant. And the representative told me that it was basically inconsequential at this point about what the teams meant, and that it would mean more once you were actually awarded...but that there are three teams, gold, blue, and red. And each team was responsible for certain states. Whether or not this information is true is beyond me. I was just sharing the information that was told to me by this particular rep! Who knows what to believe, though, seriously!!!
amybard-I was assuming the loans were qualified; however obviously some did not. I am waiting patiently or not so patiently for the actual document to see which ones did not qualify b/c I will need to know which I apply the $ to. I was a little disappointed; however like my husband said... the amount every month is like $1500.00 and he said "hey that is money we don't have to pay for 2 years possibly 3 don't complain. once it was put in that perspective I remembered how big a blessing this is:)
tess- I thought a couple a days meant like 2-4 days... but the email was on 8/2 and I am still waiting for an actual mail document so who knows??? I want to get excited but I just really can't until I have the actual document in hand.

Sully - at least NOBODY has gotten an award letter yet. So I think you've got it in the bag (well, I know you do actually, since he gave you an actual amount). So are you yourself going to have to do the configurations as to what loans get paid!?? Or do they do it for you?? I am just curious....sigh. Keep up the posts, guys! Hopefully it'll happen anyday now!!??
Amy- I called HRSA this morn and they gave me the typical Sept 30th deadline rant. Very nice guy I talked to though.
Have you thought about directly asking GM if she can tell you your appication status? I have thus far resisted asking her or responding to my original email from the blue team, but my resolve is starting to break down! I even felt bad bugging the ppl @ HRSA this morning...

Okay. I have driven myself absolutely crazy about this whole loan repayment program. I FINALLY decided to google it and see if there was anyone else out there equally as insane. This blog has confirmed I am not alone which I appreciate greatly. I live in TN, my debt ratio is 270% (ridiculous I know), I completed my application at almost the very last day, my credit was checked 5/6, one date from each lender has been altered on my application. I received the infamous tease of an e-mail on 7/14 from the blue team. I may have a heart attack if I am forced to way any longer. This program would literally change my life. I work 6 12 hour shifts a week to stay ahead of my bills and I am not sure I can keep this up forever. I thought I would atleast give you this info for further data compilation...fingers crossed and prayers up for everyone. I know we all could really put such a blessing to good use.
