I'm getting really nervous I may have deleted an email from them that came to my spam folder. Does this mean if you don't respond to the email you are tossed away??

Ok All, I was an applicant last year and I recieved an email on July 21st requesting banking information last year. However I did not recieve an award. So recieving an email stating for you to send banking information does not mean you got the award its just that you are recommended for one. If they select you, you will get a paper mail letter stating you are the recipient. If you don't you wont get one until October. I was disqualified because my credit report showed a delinquency on my child support from the past although I was current. It was a mistake. I am directly in contact with some one in HRSA whom I've emailed regarding what I needed to do to correct it. Long story short I have had that delinquency removed from my report as suggested and I applied this year. I contacted this individual to change my mailing address as I moved and stated that as of yesterday (June 15) no recommendation emails had been sent out!! :Last year There was also a one month extention to deadline due to freezing on the east coast. Hence the delay in sending email recommendations, So I expect to see emails by June 21st or so this year as there was no extention on deadline. I hope this helps those anxious ones. I must say I was like you the first time I applied but knowing the process now Im not.

:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah: Thank you so much for posting this!!! You have eased my anxiety..... For now. LOL

Yes that would be the case but they have NOT started sending emails yet. What they do (my theory) is they say ok we select 1000 people they meet all requirements to this point, then they request banking information and other documents. They give you like 48 hours so they figure some wont check emails on time and weed themselves out. check your email daily!! and frequently! don't miss out. Once they get the lets say 900 respondents they start combing throught all documentation and cutting more down until they make their selected number. What I see it as is its like SSI disability you have to apply like 3 times before one gets it so this is my second time around, I would be curious to see how many first time applicants recieved an award?

below is the actual email i recieved july 21st last year..

dear applicant:

Jmedina46,

Your post is most appreciated! I have always wondered if the banking verification email was pretty much a guarantee to being an awardee. Obviously not! Though you're post did make me nervous about one thing: My credit report shows I have one bad thing/issue (I'm on the way back from NOLA so don't have the report with me to tell u exactly what it was) and I think like 16 positive things. The bad one is just a small credit card or something that probably was not paid on time or went over the balance briefly. Will that disqualify me? I didn't think you had to have perfect credit to be elidigable?

I also find it very interesting someone said they were sending snail mail letters out. We should just learn, TRUST NO ONE FROM HRSA!

You are welcome...I don't think it will disqualify you (credit report), its not based on your score its looking for debts not paid to feds or liens on you. It also verifies loan ammounts as they are also reported on credit reports. They told me they check all 3 bureaus but only my experian reported the delinquency so I would check all 3.

Yes, thanks for the new information! It actually made me a little more nervous though. Because, like Suzy, I too thought that if you received an email it really meant that you were going to get awarded! That is crazy. You must've been really upset at that point, huh? I, too, am hoping that I don't get disqualified because of something on my credit report. I think it was on Experian too that it showed I hadn't paid some medical bill for like 18 months to LSU Healthcare System (I didn't even know I had had a bill, and this was in nursing school). I am hoping that won't hurt me. Besides this one little thing (and even with it), my credit score is excellent. I guess only time will tell now...I just wish someone would start hearing something soon. But Jmedina46, didn't some people get emails and letters as early as May and June last year. I could've sworn I saw that on the posted blogs for 2010!

Jmedina46, thanks that does make me feel better! Yes, that was the only thing that popped up on all 3 reports. Btw, are you an applicant this year or are u still working out the kink? If you are good luck!

Im a second time applicant. I fixed "kink" in credit report by having it removed. I was advised that this was the only reason I was not funded so Im assuming Im in good shape? I hope so, I really could use it! I believe that because they were so backed up last year they sent out email notifications in groups at different times of the month starting as early as June if you submitted your application first. Everyone whom recieved an award was funded or "direct deposited" in September, along with their snail mail letter (contract).

Its so great reading over these post and seeing there are so many people feeling as crazy as I am about this! I had seen my loan dates change on the HRSA website login and Great Lakes had told me they had an inquiry from HRSA regarding my accounts, now I guess its just the waiting game!! Has anyone received any more hopeful information from HRSA recently?!!

I'm starting to feel like I'm experiencing each stage of the grief process during this hrsa/nelrp ordeal. I've gotten through anger, denial and bargaining already and its not even July. Hrsa itself is obviously not a reliable source of info. We will just have to rely on each other to keep informed!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! funny that we probably all feel the same way, Bev!!
