That's a great idea! I'm particularly interested in how to prep for the tax hit.....we get taxed again? I thought taxes were already taken out. I'm so confused. My brain needs time to heal after getting "NELRPed".

NELRP help, I wanted to thank you again for being a ray of light after such a dark and gloomy process. I've taken great pride in telling my freshly graduated coworkers how the NELRP program may be changing for the good, and becoming more user friendly. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The insight you've given us, good or bad, has been greatly appreciated. If only you had found us sooner!!!! Whatever they pay you, it's not enough. Hopefully some of the taxes they've taken out of our awards goes back into your wallet!*wine:anpom::nmbrn::yelclap:

Mallz- just make a whole bunch of random posts either on this blog, or others to make the 15 posts. That's what I did. And NELRP help did too!

Ha!! NELRP!!! You're a nut! It worked though, didn't it? I ended up posting lots of "way to gos" and " I hear ya" on other blogs I half read. Nothing wrong with a few insincere voices of encouragement to get where I want to be.
  5. I was a vet tech for 15 years before going into "human" nursing. Can't help it, but the furry patients are still my favorite!
  6. I'm hoping to obtain a position in the CTIC (similar to your unit) after 2 years on cardiac step down. It sounds like I maybe in the same boat as you. You'll have to let us know how you progress!!! I'm nervous even at the thought of having that first fresh heart pt of my own and I just finished my interview!
  7. It will get better, and better, and better. I promise. I almost quit 10 times the first month off orientation on a cardiac ICU step down unit. Now, a year and a half later, I've got it down and ready to move on. You'll see, within 6 months you'll look back and laugh. Really.

You guys think you had to sweat it out...you should check out NELRP 2011 blog. Whew.:bowingpur

NELRP help, I came home to an empty mailbox today. Sigh. I was sent "the email" on 8/2 which seems like it was the 2nd wave of notifications. Does this have any correlation with my chances of funding? Is there still hope for the 2nd round of awards to be sent out on 8/29 (ish)? I'm just dying a little more each day, it's sort of like slowly pulling a bandaid off over a period of months....I just want rip that sucker off and get it over with. Thanks for any help you can lend, and CONGRATS to all those that received the letter today!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the initiative to reach out to all of us nervous nellies!! It has restored my faith in humanity....and the feds

It was one the infamous possible recipient letters from the gold team, complete with the contract and banking info. It's hard to believe they'd get this far with each of our applications only to deny us in the end. Then again, it is the federal government. Nothing they do is very logical or efficient.

I received an email, from the gold team, during what must have been the 2nd wave (around 8/4). Those of you that have had contact with your reps from HRSA....did they contact you first? I'm not sure what I'm waiting for first. An email from my rep or a letter in the mail. They should seriously consider including anti ulcer medications in the application packet...I'm dying over here.

    Nothing here yet either.... :sofahider

I'm starting to feel like I'm experiencing each stage of the grief process during this hrsa/nelrp ordeal. I've gotten through anger, denial and bargaining already and its not even July. Hrsa itself is obviously not a reliable source of info. We will just have to rely on each other to keep informed!

It was a conference call to obtain the payoff dates....not sure if they do it only if they have questions or not. They seem like an elusive group, they can't seem to answer any questions directly. The woman I spoke with admitted that she was "new" so she was freshly trained in the art of not saying anything to either encourage or discourage. Sigh.:icon_roll
