I am just curious as to what the max. dollar amount is that the NELRP will repay. I understand the 60% for 2 yr. committment and another 25% for third yr. but what is the max. dollar amount? I have looked at the website and I have found nothing about it except the percentage. Other places I have looked have stated up to $15,000 and up to $30,000. Are these two different programs? I also do not understand they have a TON of applicants but I am really curious about the program (private tuition is doing a number on me). Any info. would be greatly appreciated!!!
This is the number I called, 301-443-4041 and I told her that I had applied for the NELRP and was looking for information about my application-she told me my rep's name was Jackie Brown and she gave me her phone number (the whole conversation was like pulling teeth of course). Let us know if you can weasel any info out of them:)
I got the verification phone call about 3-4 weeks ago and they verified my employment, banking, and told me about the rules and contractural obligations of the NELRP. I have a friend who's applied the past 3 years and he said all he has ever received was a denial letter in the mail. He said that means i got through the application process and probably will receive an award. Anybody else have any more info than that or know anyone from last year who got the same call? Just wondering.........and being totally stressed.

i think the general theme here is that we just dont have a clue... the one person thats been replying on here that actually received the award last year said she never got any calls just the letter of acceptance... then some of us got calls verifying all that info... i received a call but it was strictly to call my loan provider and receive and pay off quote and that call was on july 29th--so you would think if they chose to accept me that i would have long since received a letter!!!...they didnt tell me any rules or verify any other info tho...
who knows... maybe it just depends on whos working application... apparently each of us are assigned to someone.... this is just crazy!... i wish they would atleast update their website from "received. under review"... i keep hoping ill check and one day it will change!... no mail for me today!!! what a bummer!!!
Huntfishwv-What is your loan/income ratio? So far it seems like some people have gotten calls and some haven't regardless of how much you owe. They told me it was awarded solely by your debt/income ratio if you were at a first funding facility, and they also told me that they wouldn't be going near the 40% required to apply, but that the people awarded were much higher than that. Besides from that we are all pretty much in the dark....I would feel a little better if there were some people out there with a really high debt/income ratio that haven't received a phone call (like me) cause i am STRESSED...
Nevermind I just found it on their website. My ratio was 54%....i'm guessing this is a good thing. lol. Time will tell.
yeah, its good thing in the game of life as far as not have to repay alot but i dont think its a good thing for NELRP... you and I seem to be the lowest ratio here! thes guys and gals are WAY ahead of us in their financial debt!! ...so, in a way we're screwed but in other ways i guess we're much better off too!....
i sure still want this help tho!!!
Well if you read what people have said the percentages are high. I read the NELRP's website though....in detail...and it stated the difference between qualifying and non-qualifying loan balances. If these people have degrees in other fields, have chaged their majors, or took classes pre-requisites before and weren't registered as nursing then they are non-qualifying. I know the minimum for nursing is around $35000, there is no way that these people have created a debt around 120000-150000 for a BSN or ADN degree. If it was for CRNA school maybe. But for nursing, you're right i feel really bad for these people and i count myself lucky. Who knows I guess we'll see next week.

Ok I guess i can't just make one post at a time. lol. I did my percentages all wrong. I was putting my salary before my loan debt. Doing the correct ratio my debt/income ratio is 186%. Sorry for the rambling. I guess this is a good thing then. I'm up here will all of the other impoverished people. lol. Good luck guys.

Sounds like we'll all have to sweat it out another week!! Good luck to everyone here. Let's all keep one another posted.
As far as speaking with my NELRP "rep", how do I find out who that is? Each time we have called we speak to someone different, and it seems to be very difficult to get much info from them. I called when we sent in our supplemental forms to see if they could let me know if they recieved them, and their answer was "if you mailed them by the postmark date, then we received them." (That's so reassuring!)
