Hello everyone! This site is amazing, I've been on here for a few years now, but never had an actual account until just today.
Little bit about myself. I am a Nursing Assistant of 4 years, with experience in nursing homes, hospitals, and home health. I am currently enrolled in a Medical Assistant program, and have JUST applied to nursing school about a week ago and am currently waiting to hear back. (SO EXCITED)
For a requirement to fulfil one of my pre-reqs I am taking for nursing school, I have to write a research paper. My subject is determining the nursing specialty that is most interesting to me. I will be researching labor and deliver, neonatal, flight nursing, and travel nursing. All of these are definitely interesting to me and I am needing to extensively research each of those topics. I am required to have both primary and secondary resources. For primary resources I must interview a nurse in the specialty personally, and include the information from that interview in my paper.
I personally do not know any nurses in these fields (I live in a very tiny rural area and do not have these specialties anywhere near me) and I am wondering if there would be any nurses on here that are employed in any of the following specialties, and would be willing to be a resource for me?! I would be so grateful ?
These are the questions that I need to ask:
1) What is a brief description of your field of nursing?
2) What do you like best about this specialty?
3) What experience or training did you have prior to this field? Did that help you in this certain field?
4) What advice do you have for me prior to entering this specialty?
Thank you SO much for your help!

You are better off interviewing a nurse at a hospital. You don't know if someone on the Internet is a real nurse or a super googler wanna be hairy old man. Not that I am any of those, but I could be. You can email hospitals units or even call and see if you can do a Skype or phone interview.

Oh wow same post in 5 different forums. Again, you can not verify anyone here is actually a nurse.
You have posted in four/five different forums each of the areas that you plan to specialize. However, no one here can vouch you cannot prove to anyone on this forum this Internet website is actually a nurse. You really are supposed to going to interview someone in those specialties that you plan. While we like to help students with their homework there is no way for you to prove that anyone responds to you including me is even a nurse.

Thank you for your comment on every post of mine. I understand your point, however I have 1 week to complete this assignment, and I have my instructors approval of reaching out online in this type of setting for resources for my paper. I have also contacted the nearest hospitals, but since I just have a very short time I am trying to get information here as well if anyone was kind enough and willing to help. After reading the post you suggested for me, I see that you view me and other students who are asking simple questions on nursing specialties as a nuisance. I clearly stated my topic of what I was looking for in my subject, so instead of complaining about how lazy or annoying we are, maybe just don't click on the message?

Just because you only have 1 week to complete your assignment doesn't mean that people on the Internet are going to answer your questions. Like sailor said, you can't verify that anyone here is a nurse. There are hundreds of these request on this site and the answer is the same to every single one of them. Especially when you started an account for this very reason.
Thanks for your comment :) So helpful. Guess if you think no one is really a nurse here you shouldn't really ask any questions relating to nursing or discuss anything for information because you are probably just talking to a impostor and getting false information!

I personally see no reason why students can't use this forum as a resource. Students are a huge part of allnurses. Why shouldn't they try to contact working nurses here?

There are separate forums for pre-nursing & nursing students as well as MAs. But Well then by all means, go right ahead and help her. I don't mind when students who are enrolled in a nursing program or pre nursing students ask for help and show us the work they have done and explain what they are having trouble with. I do have a problem when someone joins that same day & then sends out multiple posts in multiple forums which just clog up the system. It is extremely annoying when someone joins the day they are asking for help with a term paper. They have not contributed anything to AN. Why did she wait to join? There are plenty of students here who regularly contribute.
For the OP, says she is in medical assistant program and taking a pre-req class which is what the paper is for. Again, needs to give info as to the name of the course, and not expect a bunch on the internet to answer her without proof.
And it is actually SPAM to have multiple posts.

Well unfortunately you do not control which posts someone can respond to on an open internet forum.
You did notice other people started this thread, so I am not the only one that feels this way.
Who are you to mind what I post? For all I know you could not even be a nurse. Didn't expect such rude comments from someone with an apparent 39 years of Nursing experience. Weren't you a student once?

OP, you are completely missing the point and being over dramatic. The nurses and students contribute to help each other daily on this site. No one said that everyone here is not a nurse. What is being said is that you CANT VERIFY they are a nurse. You may not care as you are just looking for someone to do your work for you by answering your questions instead of doing the legwork yourself and going to various hospital to interview nurses in person.
Online, anyone can say they are who they want to be. I would venture to gues that the vast majority of people who use this site are actual nurses or nursing students. But I am also sure there are some who are not. How do you know I'm a nurse? How do I know you're actually a student?
It also bothers some when you become a member then ask for people to answer interviews questions that day without have contributed or participated in any way. Simple question sure, but a whole interview is a lot. You will see that many student get help here by doing the work and just asking for advice on the work they've already done.
