Need Information About Charlotte

U.S.A. North Carolina

I live in the Ft. Lauderdale, FL area (was born and lived in S. FL almost my whole life) and I'm really looking into to moving to Charlotte, NC. My husband and I are renting and real estate is SO expensive here that I don't know if we'll ever own anything (3 bedroom starter homes in a decent area start at $350,000+). Is Charlotte nice and could I get a nice three bedroom house for around $150,000? Also my husband is Hispanic - do you think he will feel comfortable in Charlotte? We are used to a very multi-culteral atmosphere. thanks for any advice!

I do not know much about agencies for the hospital, however there is a company that works with adults/ children home health / private duty called bayada, and i work prn with them, never get called off, always have work available at $28/hr, I also do baylor at springs memorial in lancaster co sc, it is about 30-35 mins from charlotte get time and half for each hour that i work! great deal !

good luck

I am graduating from the Queens program next week. I did the ASN program. I would highly reccomend it. The pass rate is like 97%, higher then their BSN scores. The instructors are amazing and Presbyterian hires ASN graduates from Queens before any other new grads because it is still called the Presbyterian School of Nurisng.

I forgot to mention.......if you do the ASN program at queens, then do their RN-BSN program it is really easy. The classes in the ASN program are one day a week, with clinicals 2 days a week.

Hi I'm new to the forum. Hello everyone. I'm looking to relocate from California to Charlotte. Originally I was an airforce brat so I'm still looking for a homebase for myself. I probably won't be able to move for another year but I was wondering if anyone could help me with a few answers. Nurse to patient Ratio's? Salary Ranges? For a Tele or Med/Sur nurse? Also anything about Charlotte I'm planning to visit before moving? How much snow in winter? How hot in the Summer? All the research I've done so far sounds really great as far as what the city has to offer. Thank you.

My husband and I are hoping to re;ocate to the Charlotte area. I am looking for a teaching hospital with really sick patients. I am in Cardiac surgery right now and admitt open heart pts from the OR as well as heart transplants, lung transplants, VAD's IABP etc.... any suggestions. Also, what areas are nice to live in I have a 7 yr old. How much is the pay rate??? I have been thinking about travle nursing at first just to see what I like and all tha good stuff.

Hope to hear from someone soon

I work for Carolinas Healthcare and they are in the process of building a new icu tower and are hiring for it, they do transplants in the cvru. We also have a pediatric cvru. Fort Mill SC is a great place to live and not to far from the hospitals and the taxes are less than in Charlotte. We live in Charlotte and I love it but I don't have small children...

check out Carolina's healthcare and Presbyterian's site's they are the two main hospital systems

I think on the floor the ratio is 5 to 1 in the PACU our's are 2 to 1 unless they are icu then they are 1 to 1. Snow what snow. we have been here almost 3 years and I have seen actual snow once and it was like 1 inch.

summer's are hot and humid.

The city is great.

I am moving to Charlotte in about three weeks. I was just there looking at houses without any luck. I just wanted to know if there is anyone who can give me some info on nice neighborhoods in Charlotte or surrounding cities. I have a few job offers and all of them in Charlotte so I would like to find a house within Charlotte or at least with an easy commute. Thanks in advance for your help.

No real dvice to give but wishing you good luck on the move.

Thanks I need it.....lol.

There are many nice areas in which to live in Charlotte. We need more information from you, though. Where will you be working? Are you a young family with children, interested in schools? Are you single and interested in the uptown scene? Do you like to live at the lake? Help us narrow it down a bit.

I was gonna say the same thing there are many places to live...are you working downtown? do you have to take call? will you have to live in a certain distance from the hospital? Are you looking to rent or buy?
