  1. Can anyone recommend some good areas? Any areas to avoid? Thanks soooo much!
  2. I live in the Ft. Lauderdale, FL area (was born and lived in S. FL almost my whole life) and I'm really looking into to moving to Charlotte, NC. My husband and I are renting and real estate is SO expensive here that I don't know if we'll ever own anything (3 bedroom starter homes in a decent area start at $350,000+). Is Charlotte nice and could I get a nice three bedroom house for around $150,000? Also my husband is Hispanic - do you think he will feel comfortable in Charlotte? We are used to a very multi-culteral atmosphere. thanks for any advice!
  3. Deusadomar - Awesome post! Thanks for sharing your story. I'm 35 and won't be able to go to school this year but I'm hoping to be a CNA and then an RN in the future. Now I know it's not too late for me!
  4. I'm 35 and because of circumstances right now I probably won't start my pre-reqs until a year or two from now. As long as you have the dream in you you're not too old!
  5. In Miami all you need is an Associates Degree to become a P.A. (at Miami Dade College).
  6. What is MDS? I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I even start my Nursing pre-reqs. Thank you!
  7. thanks for the suggestions! Hopefully I can find some type of assistance daycare program in Florida.
  8. I know that you can get a Pell Grant to help pay for your tuition but I was wondering if the Pell Grant can also extend to paying for child care while you are in school. Does anyone know? :)
  9. My school also uses the NLN (a new requirement). I won't be taking it though for a long time since I still need to do most of my pre reqs. It makes me nervous though that Physics is on it. I've never taken Physics before and it isn't a requirement at my community college. Also, someone mentioned that Earth Science is on it. Does that mean geology..rocks and stuff? Yikes! I'm not as worried about Biology and Chemistry though b/c taking A&P and Chemistry are requirements.
  10. Thanks for the replies! I know that nursing is very physically demanding so I'm glad to hear that my height wouldn't be a hindrance. I guess I should hit the gym so I won't have to ask for too much help. :)
  11. I'm thinking about going into nursing but I'm only 4'11". Could I still be a good nurse even though it would be too difficult for me to move larger patients (i.e. anyone over 5'5" - LOL)?
