Need help preparing for the Hesi A2 Entrance Exam

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

I bought the study guide but I have heard it is not much help when preparing for this test. I will be taking it in Nov at MCC. I was wondering if anyone bought "Hesi Test Secrets" from Morrison Media. It is $40, but it is worth it?

Any study advice would be appreciated!

I wouldn't call the HESI easy, but very do-able. The nerves will get you every time, just take a deep breath and know you can do it! I do suggest the HESI study guide, I found it extremely helpful! I remember some vocab. came right out of the book! Don't sweat the A&P it was pretty basic. Good Luck!:)

What study guide should i study from for HESI A2?

I don't know when I am going to be taking this exam, just found out that it's the one I have to take. I have been hearing that I need to get a 70 or higher...so I'm guessing that the higher the better. The program I might be going to will need applications in January. So that gives me time to take A&P and the HESI a2....

Study guides...so I have seen somethings on here but still confused.

Does anyone have a study guide that was actually helpful?

Should I get those flash cards offered online?

And I have also found some software but it's 60 dollars and from what I can tell it only offers practice tests.

I'd like to spend less but if I need to I will dish out the cash. Please help if you can! Thank you! :redpinkhe

Like you mysonis adorable, I am going to be taking this exam soon too. Not sure when yet, but have begun the process of studying. I can tell you from what I have been reading here, the HESI, Evolve book is helpeful with math, reading comprehension, grammer, etc., but not as completely helpful on the A&P, Chemistry, etc. I found the above link in this thread from earlier. Seems to have a lot of the same information as in the HESI book. Don't be thrown on the many errors in there however. And trust me, there are several errors.

So far, I have been very impressed with the information people have provided on these threads. I am hopeful that it will be useful when I do finally take the exam. And even more hopeful I actually get in the program after all of this work.

Taking my pre-req's now also. I have a Psy 101 from '96 with a B. I'm hopeful that isn't going to cause an issue getting into the program, providing I get a good score on the HESI, and A's in my other pre-reqs.

Best of luck!

Well a friend has agreed to tutor me, he has his BSN I believe...

Been looking at these flash cards for the HESI and also some software that has practice tests...those seem more promising then the review books but I will be getting one of those as well...

Do you know where there are some online practice tests? Or if any of the review books have them? Amazon does not have much information on the books, just reviews...which makes me not want any of them! LOL all of the books have reviews that scare you off :(

I am taking the HESI A2 in the Fall for early consideration into the RCC 2011 school year. We have to score a 75 on both the math and the reading, those are the only two sections we are required to take. My concern is more with the math. If someone could tell me what the content is, that would be great and it would be relief. I was wondering if it had a ton of word problems. I'm really good at percents, ratios, fractions, and decimals. Measurements might be something I need to brush up on if there's a lot of that on the test. Thanks so much

First of all you are lucky that you only have to take those sections. Math ...practice practice practice.. you will do great. It sucks b.c there are alot math problems and you have to double check your answers b/c of the calculator. for example I would press 100 but it would show up 10. so make sure the numbers type right...

You will do great :)

Oh ya.. study the military time, roman numeral, percent, ratios, fractions, decimals, yes know your measurements. there are couple word problems but nothing hard

Thanks so much :)

where did you get your study guide from?

I picked up a copy of the study guide at the Temple College book store. But I also found them on Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/Evolve-Reach-Admission-Assessment-Review/dp/1416056351/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282581221&sr=8-2-spell

hi :-) I know your post has been since a year ago, but I was wondering what study guide did you use?
