Need help preparing for the Hesi A2 Entrance Exam

U.S.A. Michigan

I bought the study guide but I have heard it is not much help when preparing for this test. I will be taking it in Nov at MCC. I was wondering if anyone bought "Hesi Test Secrets" from Morrison Media. It is $40, but it is worth it?

Any study advice would be appreciated!

I am taking the HESI A2 in the Fall for early consideration into the RCC 2011 school year. We have to score a 75 on both the math and the reading, those are the only two sections we are required to take. My concern is more with the math. If someone could tell me what the content is, that would be great and it would be relief. I was wondering if it had a ton of word problems. I'm really good at percents, ratios, fractions, and decimals. Measurements might be something I need to brush up on if there's a lot of that on the test. Thanks so much

Goodness! Well sounds like you will do well because I have heard that those are the easiest sections. I don't know which sections I will be taking yet but I assume it will be the basic entrance exam for the HESI the one without a&p...not sure though. After weeks of trying to decide which study guide to use I think that I am going to go with the Evolve Reach one...seems like it will cover what I will need. I have heard that the math section is about high school level. I would read this thread and then go look at the reviews on amazon.com....I have heard these are the top three study guides for the HESI A2

the Kaplan, the Evolve, and the Mcgraw-hill (sp) you'll see them when you search at Amazon. Good luck, to both of us ;)

Hello I take the Hesi a2 exam on Friday. Anyone know of any helpful websites to take practice tests?! I am not having any luck with it :( Please email me any helpful sites I would really appreciate it!!! my email is [email protected]

I took the Hesi a2 yesterday and got a 94.3% overall. I only had to take Reading, Vocab, and Math. I scored 98% on Vocab and Math and only an 86% on the Reading! Oops. It told me I was bad with conclusions. Math was very easy. If you memorize what's in the study guide, you will have no problem. The vocab was alot harder than I thought. I had every single word in that study guide memorized plus a bunch more medical terminology words that I found on a separate study guide. I would say, only about 1/2 of the words on the test were in the guide. Going through that section I thought I was in serious trouble! But what helped me what knowing which words were grammatically correct in that sentence. Even if I didn't know the meaning, I knew which words didn't fit because either an er, ly, ing, or whatever on the end. So pay attention to that. The only other suggestion I would have is to study as much medical terminology you can and do practice reading comprehension tests online. As for the science sections....I have NO idea. Wasn't required for me.

Hi there I am taking the hesi a2 next wednesday. How much of the math do you remember? I have been studying for a couple weeks. How many conversion questions? Was the test multiple choice?

Some of it is multiple choice, proportions, decimals, fractions, story problems. What parts of the hesi2 are you taking?

What study guides did you use? I am taking the same sections at the end of Oct. and I have bought the Barrons and Kaplin Study Guides and one of the girls I work with who is also taking the test the same day bought the McGraw-Hill Study Guide, we are both so nervous about taking the test. I have already found a typo in the Barrons in the math portion, so I'm a little worried about about being prepared for the test. My school only takes the top 32 test scores out of around 60 applicants so I need to score atleast a 90% and you did so well, I wanted to know what study guides you used and where you found them? Congrats on your score!

Leilani1983, I just read another post of yours are you going to Carrington in Reno in Jan. 2011? My co-worker and I are trying to get into the May 2011 semester in Reno. We would really appreciate any advice you have on getting accepted into their program. My goal is to score at least 90% since they only take the top 32. Good Luck on starting in January.:)

I am new on here also and would really appreciate it if anyone has any practice HESI entrance exam information. Most of the post for West Coast and Davenport are old and can't be accessed anymore- believe me I've tried.

If anyone has anything I sure would appreciate it being sent to my email because I can't PM yet. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Thanks for that post...helps my test anxiety. I am decided just 3 weeks ago to go back to school and in order to apply for the program I want to get into I have to take the test THIS month! I actually take it Saturday. I am educated and a great test taker. I was nervous after reading one of the website selling study guides....fear based motivation is their sales tactic I guess. Thanks again.
