I am trying to sort out the info for Excelsior & need a little help. Can I get study material from eBay, yahoo, etc & contact Pearson to schedule test dates prior to enrolling. Basically I am looking to do this for the core classes if possible. Also, do I have to pay the $190 (3 credit) $220 (4 credit) & $280 (6 credit) for each exam if I am not purchasing the guided learning material? Can someone please get me very clear cut answers to what I will be "required" to pay for other than the enrollment, application, student services, CPNE, grad fees? Thanks so much for helping me sort out all the options a little clearer! Have a blessed day.
maybe but you know i find that the ec site is one of the most complicated sited to maneuver through... maybe i am just a idiot.
hi diahni....thanks for the reply. yes, i have an account, registered and been accepted after sending in my appl and $75 fee. i think there must be something wrong with their website today?!?!? i hope
Hi all... I'm interested in starting the progrom at Exclesior so that I may minimize time away from my two babies... Which brings me to the reason I'm posting... I met with TCN today... No I am not signing up with them.. Thanks to you guys... I read a great deal of this thread and decided against it... I'm aware of the fact that I can do this on my own and GOD willing the help of you all.. :)... I just wanted to get a better understanding of how everything works.. So I booked the appointment.. The only thing I'm confused on now is TCN says that I have only 6 general education requirements.. They are:
English Comp. 6 semester hours
Prin. of Public Speaking 3 semester hours
Life Span Dev. Psych 3 semester hours
Sociology 3 semester hours
Anatomy and Phys. 6 semester hours
Microbiology 3 semester hours
Problem is these classes total 24 semester hours.. I've been to Exclesiors website and they say a total of 31 credits of General Ed. requirements are needed... I have no previous college credit as my training was done through a Tech school... Can someone help me?? I can't seem to get through to Exclesior... Is TCN right?? If not what are the other classes needed.. Thank you all so very much in advance..
You're right, that doesn't add up. Have you downloaded the School of Nursing catalog from the publications page and looked through it? http://www.excelsior.edu/publications -- you might have to log in to see everything (which would mean creating a login/account, which is free, if you haven't already done so). Page 22 of that document is where it starts discussing requirements for the ADN. There is also another useful publication called "How Much Will Your Excelsior College Associate Degree in Nursing Cost?" that shows a breakdown of credits.
Hope that helps!
:idea:Hi everyone!
I am looking for some advice possibly from others who are in my situation or are familiar with it. I recently failed out of my nursing program for my RN, I was "almost done" I was on my very last class when I failed and so now I am looking for another way to finish my degree. I came across excelsior in which allowed students like me who have completed at least 50% of their nursing school to graduate. I was excited to have found such a school, but "now" my dilema is in the state of FL where I now live, they do not allow a person in my situation to work in the state of FL as an RN, unless I am an LPN first before admission. So, my options were to go to another state get licensed there and "then" work in FL but only in Govt. affilliated businesses such as the VA hospital or at a medical correctional facility. I am willing to take that option and work at the VA hospital, however my question is I do not know what other states would accept a license under the circumstances, and if I have to be a resident at that state to be licensed there? I do want to pursue excelsior, I just don't want to end up with nowhere to work.......Please help.
I went to their website (excelsior) so that I can download their content guides for the exams but I have no clue what to download... do I just download all their stupid nursing guides or what??
I am going to enroll after lpn school this summer but I am soooooo confused about this whole thing.
