Need Excelsior Clarification

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

I am trying to sort out the info for Excelsior & need a little help. Can I get study material from eBay, yahoo, etc & contact Pearson to schedule test dates prior to enrolling. Basically I am looking to do this for the core classes if possible. Also, do I have to pay the $190 (3 credit) $220 (4 credit) & $280 (6 credit) for each exam if I am not purchasing the guided learning material? Can someone please get me very clear cut answers to what I will be "required" to pay for other than the enrollment, application, student services, CPNE, grad fees? Thanks so much for helping me sort out all the options a little clearer! Have a blessed day.

if you are not a enrolled student you should not even have access to download any content exam guides that you are not able to take. so in other words the only ones that you should be to download are 1 and 2. i do not know the names of them because i am under the old curriculum.

thanks thats what i was looking for, i know i can only get 1 and 2 but i couldnt figure out the names

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

ok i am going to assume that under the new curriculum what used to be nc -1 is now essentials of nursing care: chronicity and nc 2- essentials of nursing care : health differences.

i say this only because these two are listed first and second in the exam content guide area.

Not yet, Money is really really tight right now and I am still in LPN school and have my mod 4 final in two weeks so I am concentrating on that right now. Then I will see where my money situation is and if

I can afford to enroll right now. If not I will just wait a few months longer and save up. I know you can make pay plans and all that but I would rather wait and save some money just in case. I also have a mortgage to pay and things like that you know?:o

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.
ok I am going to assume that under the new curriculum what used to be NC -1 is now Essentials of Nursing care: Chronicity and NC 2- Essentials of nursing care : Health Differences.

Essentials of Nursing care: Health Safety = NC1

Essentials of Nursing care: Health Differences = NC2

Essentials of Nursing Care: Chronicity = NC3 + functional assessment + end of life care (new)

Essentials of Nursing Care: Reproductive Health = NC3 + congenital

anomalies (was in NC4)

Health Differences Across the Life Span 1 = NC4 (minus congenital anomalies)

Health Differences Across the Life Span 2 = NC5 + cognitive assessment (new)

Health Differences Across the Life Span 3 = NC6

Transition to the Registered Professional Nurse = NC7/Foundations of Professional Practice

That's it in a nutshell. :)

Now only if they would let me download all the guides without being enrolled

well i got them wrong. only reason i said those two was because they were listed first and second in the content exams. rickt83 even said those were the ones she downloaded and since she is not enrolled yet ..i thought those were the ones..they all look the same to me.

What if you want to do the ISU lpn to bsn track? Can you do the same thing by buying all your study guides on line and testing on your own with out using the publication companies like TCN and Excelsior? Or do you have to enroll with them?
