New to Home health company and first paycheck bounced!!
Yeah, of course I am looking, but worried now, about my next paycheck that is due. I am just appauled (sp?) that this is not a federal crime and they are not being held responsible for this. A business should NOT BE allowed to do this to employees! We are ALL having hard times in this economy and all one paycheck away from loosing a home, a car, etc.... This should be stopped because I found out that last pay period 10 of thier checks bounced!

New to Home health company and first paycheck bounced!!
I just started with this new home health company, been in business for 2 years, and my first paycheck bounced after I already deposited it, wrote out my own personal checks and it left me in the big time hole. When I called the administrator, I thought it was strange No apology, just let us look into it and we will get back to you. Then I drove to office and they still said they had to contact the owners and get back to me. Well finally the next day I got a new check, so I drove straight to thier bank and there own bank wouldn't cash it!! So I drove to Walmart, they wouldn't cash it, then I finally got Amscott to cash it! I talked to another employee who told me she had 3 bounce in the past year. Then when I talked to the office girl who does payroll she told me there is NO MONEY IN the account and the owners were looking to borrow money right at that moment. That is why they are doing direct deposit next pay day and i would get my money. Well needless to say, I AM NOT staying with this company, but was wondering what my course of action can be? I live in the state of Florida and just don't know how they are not getting in trouble by anyone for bouncing all these checks? How is this not a federal crime?

Need studying advice! Please
No I did not apply, I just asked alot of questions. I knew I can't clep A and P but I did not realize I can not Clep Microbiology. I just started off with the ones I knew and keep my goal short and small or else I know I want get started. When I do sign up I knew it was going to take A and P with them, but I can save money by cleping the others on my own. And when I talked to other students who are already in enrolled they highly encouraged it and wished they had done that (learn from others mistakes).

New School Nurse in Fla
Hello, I am going through and reading alot of posts on here and getting good information. I just landed a school nurse job at our Elem. School!! After I got over the initial salary SHOCK:eek: and how low I was going to be paid, I started getting really excited. After all, I have been wanting to take a more of a "make a difference approach, and MONEY doesn't always bring happiness attitude" so here is my start! I worked in pediatrics as a medical ast. doing back office duties, then also did home health peds for 2 years and 1 1/2 yrs Med/Surg. So I think that I am ready for this task:lol2: I would appreciate any of the Fla nurses input on school nursing and maybe important things to remember? I am so excited and can't wait to start!!!

Can this be done?
Thanks, but what I meant was NOT ENROLLING in Excelsior, just taking CLEPS on my own then once I did it for all my pre reqs ENROLL in Excelsior. Can that be done?

Can this be done?
I am wondering since all you are basicaly doing is CLEPing the classes through Excelsior for your pre req's why can't you SAVE MONEY and just CLEP them yourself then enroll for your nursing classes with them? If I was to do that do I just do it all on my own? Study and then sign up at Pearson Vue for the test? Do they hold your testing information somewhere so when you do go to enroll at a college you can ask them to send it to your college you are enrolling with? Thank you for all your help!:)

Opening our own ALF's
Hello fellow nurses! I was wondering if anyone can share details, or information on something I am wanting to do with a partner.. We live in Florida and I have already requested the what licensing information I need for the state of FLa but I was wanting to hear from someone who has done something similar or doing the same thing. It doesnt' matter if you live in the same state or not. But here is our idea...we want to open some ALF's that are homes, hire someone to manage and live in it and over see it. I being the nurse would do all the manuals and manage it making sure it is in compliance with State Agencies, and over see any other concerns or problems with home health needs, medications etc.... After our first one is up and successfuly going we want to do more of them. Is it really complicated, hard or significant barriers in doing this that you have faced? Please share you success, your failures and anything else you care to share. I wish there was a book on "how too" but then again, if it were that easy everyone would be doing it. Thanks in advance!!

Private Duty Nurses...Let me know if I am insane please!!
AMEN!! thank you!!! Everything you said was so true! And yes, I did leave and found a new job. It was sad that the nurses that were NOT PROFESSIONAL , ran me off, and I was a GREAT nurse and professional.

Im outa here!
After almost two yrs of doing the same case and no raises, and a bunch of other things I got a new job! Thank the Lord! I prayed to God he would help me find another job and he did!!! I am going to be a hospital nurse liaison! And I couldn't be happier. I am sad to leave my patient but glad to go. My company did not care about the situtation that was going on and what was going on with the patient and they took advantage of the nurses on the case, allowing them to buy every piece of clothing and shoes and food and sheets for the patient because the parent never did. As long as the companies pockets were being filled that is all that mattered. And if the parent was happy then the company was still employed. Sad but true. Well, Thank God I am free at last!:bowingpur
