Nebraska nurse wages

Anyone willing to share wages for new grads outside of Omaha and Lincoln? I'm talking more rural areas, and in both hospitals and nursing homes. You can PM me if you are willing to give this out.

I wondered the same thing. Though I didn't find anyone willing to share that info (several nurses in my family), salary.com gave me a general idea of what to expect. I can't guarantee it's accuracy but it was what I expected to see.

I started as a new RN in a rural (18 bed) hospital at $16.50 an hour two years ago.

I just graduated LPN/LVN school and I live in texas right out of school I'll be started out at 11.80$ plus where I work I will get shift dif. for working nights...but as for RN right out of school they make between 16-17$ an hour.

I work in Omaha and the starting salary for a new grad RN at my hospital is $18.35 now.

Specializes in nursing home/school nursing.

I went to the nursing homes where they were short staffed, I then told them I wouldn't work for less than 20/hr. They hired me then I moved around to other places using the 20/hr as my lowest bid.. Agency is great, they pay 30/hr, It's alot more interesting to.

RN starting wage for new grad in rural South Centeral Nebraska, Hospital $17-$18hr, NH $18-$20. At least this is what I have gotten for offers.

Department of Labor, just ctrl+F and search for nurse. It's all of nebraska.

You guys need to get to southern california-I can't believe they only pay RNs 18.00 an hour in NE. I make 20.00 as an LVN and plan on 85,000 dollars a year when I graduate next May!

Thanks but no thanks. Although the pay may be more elsewhere in the country, so is the cost of living. I live in the middle of nowhere. This town has MAYBE 200 people. My 5 bedroom house cost us $9000.00 5 years ago. It is older and did need repair, but in Cali. it woulda been ALOT more, like over 10x more. Land out here sells for about $1000-2000 an acre. If I want to go hunting I just start walking with my gun out the back door.

My kids school has a student to teacher ratio of about 15:1. If one of the kids is doing anything wrong (smoking, drinking, drugs) I will know about it the next day or sooner.

I love it out here and I wouldn't have it any other way.

On the other hand, if I were single with no kids--maybe.

Interesting perspective, Tom. I'm contemplating taking a travel assignment in the Omaha area and I've been doing a bit of research during the past week. The pay I've been offered is a bit lower that what I've made elsewhere but not that much. I'm seriously thinking about it.
