NCTC ADN Fall 2014

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I just wondering if there are others out there applying this May for the Fall 2014 class. I just found out I have everything to apply at NCTC but with a B in A&P I I only have 10 points and I'm not sure if I will make the cut. Anyone else?

I saw that too. I am stalking their website for the next month! Good luck to everyone on the Kaplan!

Does anyone know what the class size will be?

I don't know the class size, but it says on the website that they accept 32 or 34 applicants.

jls0459, do you remember what the accepted test scores were for your application period when you took the Kaplan?

Honestly I have no real idea of the class size. It seems like I read somewhere (probably on their website) that they test 100 total...60 from the generic ADN applicant pool (non LVN) and 40 from the LVN-RN bridge applicant pool. It seems like in my information session I remember him saying they had around 36-40 slots for the traditional program. But I wouldn't swear to any of that. I always assumed the traditional (non LVN) students were in the same program with the LVN-RN bridge students for the ADN/RN program, so 40 slots is 40 slots period. So he confused me with denoting 'traditional program.' I just keep hoping and waiting and checking their website so I know if I even had enough points to make the cut for the Kaplan.

Not wanting to speak for Jls0459 at all but I was lurking on their thread for last fall and I think they said it was around 74ish. I didn't remember seeing 32-34 on the website. That's about 1/3 of the amount that test. This is nerve-racking! Ok, 2 hours until the kids hit the house, (last day of school here) gotta try to study some.

Oh it is 36 for the ADN program, "Generally, the Associate Degree Nursing Program accepts 36 students in the Generic program and 12 in the Transition from Vocational to Professional Nursing at the Gainesville campus if there are enough qualified applicants."

You are right that is nerve racking!

Also, I knew a girl at NCTC last semester who was accepted with a 69 on the test, at least that is what I thought she said! I hope that is true!

My son is out of school now too, so I am will only be studying a little bit in the evenings from now on. I am waiting on that letter!!!

Thanks for the quote, I knew I read it somewhere. I keep checking the website daily--ok, multiple times a day, in the hopes that they will post the point cut off for the Kaplan before I actually receive the letter.

Glad to know I'm not the only one trying to do this with kids too! Makes it all that much more fun! I'm already good at living on 3 hours sleep for days on end. I look and feel like something the cat dragged in during the throes of the semester but it's that's what it takes. I tell myself I'm going to look fabulous in my scrubs once I graduate! haha.

Was the girl from NCTC already an LVN? I think their cutoff was lower for the bridge program than the generic ADN program. I applied for the generic ADN program since I'm not an LVN. I wish I were. I just want to make in the low 80's on the Kaplan then I might feel pretty good about my chances. But it sounds like that is very hard to do.

Amazingly, I feel like I'm struggling to stay motivated for this last week or so to just keep studying. I guess because I've been doing it for a while now and I have A/P and everything else coming out my ears. My eyes glaze over every time I walk by my A/P books. I think seeing that cutoff number and just knowing I'm invited to test will really help light a fire under me again.

Have a great weekend.

I am right there with you Shine_On...checking their website too much! Also, feeling a lack of motivation to study anymore! I studied hard for about a month, so I am hoping that is enough! I keep checking the mail!!!!

I just called and asked the nursing department who they were inviting to test according the priority points. I could barely get my sentence out, as I was nervous! Haha! Anyway, they are inviting 9 and up to test.

So now the nerves are really kicking in, because I am testing! :-)

What does that actually mean? I was thinking everyone would need to test.

No not everyone is invited to test. The priority points determine whether you test. For this particular application period, the amount of points needed to be invited to test is 9 and up.
