First things first,  Happy School Nurses Day to you all!!!! I hope you are recognized!!

Now Imma do a little bragging, seems appropriate on School Nurses Day...

I passed the certification exam yesterday!.

Took it in March, waited longer for this than my state boards in 1983!!!

If you are eligible, I encourage you  take on this challenge. The journey is worth it.

That makes sense...

Yep, I also did the digital study book with it. Test itself is still "just" $360.

How helpful are you finding the book to be?

I got the digital study guide, too along with the textbook it references and it really seems like it contains the nitty gritty "Need to know" stuff from the comprehensive text. The online NASN study group was somewhat helpful for me, in that it broke down the study guide into 6 chunks to focus on, but I just did not have the time to devote to studying the comprehensive text in the way they suggested. I still passed the exam, but if I had more time to study and actually read the text book and not just skim it, I bet I would have been even more prepared...

To be determined. I printed it but it does seem to just chunk out the text.

So I took this last week. I totally feel like I bombed it. It was like every piece of knowledge I had left my head.

I was balancing in between working 60+ hours a week because this fall is, well, a lot. My LPN just quit as well so I've been managing even more than usual between COVID and everything else we are supposed to be doing.

I hate that I have to wait six weeks before I learn I likely need to take this uber expensive test again...

A bunch of us here in my district took it last March and a few over the Summer and we ALL thought the same thing and all of us passed!  One of my colleagues ended up taking it at the same time and place as I did totally unbeknownst to either of us until we arrived.  We met up after for drinks and were discussing and we both were convinced we failed.  So many weird topics/questions.  Anyway, don't be discouraged, we were all pleasantly surprised with our passing results and you likely will be as well!

I felt like I guessed on 40% of those questions. I was like "why are they asking me THIS?"

I, too, left convinced I had failed. It was so much of a guessing game.

I remember way back when I took NCLEX - I left thinking I'd failed because all of the questions seemed so simple with (mostly) obvious answers and that if it seemed simple it was because I was doing so terrible the computer wouldn't give me hard questions.... The NCSN was sorta the opposite. I left feeling very down and like, WTH was that?! So many of the questions seemed like multiple answers should have been acceptable. Regardless, I passed....

So, I think what we're all trying to say is, you likely did great!

Yeah, it's one of the reasons that I felt it was more difficult than the Boards. (many moons ago at least) The breadth of the subjects on the NCSN exam was WIDE...

Everyone:

I PASSED!

I am so relieved. I needed this so much this week after getting COVID (despite being triple vaxxed). I finally tested negative to go back to work in person and then I got the email for my results and I'm smiling for the first true time since I can really remember this school year.
