hi guys, i just wanna share my story and ask few questions.
I lodged in my ncnz app last decmber and recently received their email telling me that they declined my application because of my work experience. I decided to withdraw my application and have my submitted requirements be send back to me.
Now, I'm planning to apply in AHPRA but having second thoughts.
I only have 2 years and 7 months post grad hosp experience (2010-2013) and i dont know if they will consider it. im -also currently unemployed which i know would make a big factor in considering if i'm eligible to take bridging course, wouldn't it?
I've spent quite a lot of money already for ncnz ( i paid certain amount of money in a consulting agency to help me process my papers) and i would not be able to get a refund.
i hope you guys could enlighten me about this. Thanks in advance

I have no experience with appying with ncnz or aphra but what i can say based from my observation is that nursing councils/boards of nursing take nursing experience into consideration. They want current experience or at the very least recent experience. 2013 was quite some time ago.
With regards to APHRA taking this factor into consideration to determine your eligibility to take a bridging program- i dont know but im sure the answer can be found on their site. Just do a little digging.

Hi,
I agree with shulace. The NCNz does take nursing experience into consieration and you need at least 2 years of nursing practice within the last 5 years. That means only experience gained between 2012 to 2017.
You mentioned going through an agency to process your NZ paperwork but they weren't able to advise you of the experience requirement and recency of practice? That seems a bit dubious to me and i would surely make a complaint and ask for a refund.
Australia had a similar requirement but only requires 450 hours in the last 5 years. Were you employed as an RN during those two year s you were employed?
yup. I worked in a tertiary hosp.
Did you ask your agent why you weren't advise about the recency of practice requirement?
yes. but they told me it doesn't matter as long as i have a work experience for the last 5 years.
That's no good. They basically gave you the wrong advice. You should ask or your money back.
i definitely will. Thank you
