NCLEX RN 14 times

Published

I'm going to take my NCLEX RN for the 14th time in March. In using UWORLD and Picmonic. My problem is knowledge deficit, memory deficit and anxiety. If I stop taking the Exam, I'm going to forget everything which is worse. I know people who Failed and give up and do not want to be one of those people. Any ideas please let me know and help me.

Well, the OP just posted on another thread that she's taking the NCLEX in March "for the 14th time." Posted this AM. So, 80 posts in and nothing has changed. Falling on deaf ears? Or are we being punked? I can't tell.

I'm sure we will see another post in the middle of March from her stating she'll be taking the NCLEX again in April for the 15th time.

I'm out. OP -- I've actually never said this, to anyone, ever, but your lack of critical thinking skills are truly frightening. I am hopeful that you are, indeed, pulling our collective legs.

I really hope she is trolling us. This is getting scary. I fear that she gets lucky, passes & then has a patient load. I don't want to imagine what might happen. She doesn't listen, is stubborn & has no critical thinking skills. I shudder at the thought of her as a nurse.

Did you see that she has taken the birds in Rhode Island, Massachusetts & Hawaii?!

I listen. I'm now working with someone one by one.

I think what a lot of people are trying to say is that studying and reviewing will not be enough for you to pass which is why so many have recommended going back to school entirely. One on one help is great but what it seems you really need are critical thinking skills because you can't possibly pass if you don't understand how to think critically (this really is what NCLEX is ALL about.) Nobody can tell you what to do or what you are capable of doing but if after all these tries you are still not passing, then you need to to do a complete overhaul of what you are learning and how. If you can recite what a medications purpose, dose, side effects, etc. But don't understand why you are passing it then you are not thinking critically. If you know the patho of a myocardial infarction but don't understand why you are giving that patient oxygen then you are not thinking critically. Just about anyone can study hard enough and long enough to recite some memorized facts but if you cant take in those facts and understand concepts behind them then you will keep going in this same circle.

No, no you aren't. You are lacking the understanding of the material on the NCLEX. Reviewing by yourself or with someone else isn't going to help you. You need to grasp the material to have a review help you. This tutor can't teach you everything, which is what you need.

If this post is even real...

Stop taking the NCLEX.

I believe there are different forms of intelligence, and I would like to think there is a career out there for you in which you will succeed. It seems to me you do not have the level of critical thinking required to be a nurse.

I don't believe in any god. However, if one did exist, it would not be in his or her best interest to allow a seriously incompetent person become a nurse.

That's too discouraging. You do not know me and you do not know my background and you do not what's going in my life. I

There's a lot of competent nurses who are bad nurses.

Then why come on here constantly, asking for advice? Either come here, ask for advice & take it. Or stop coming on here if you don't want hear said advice.

I think you mean INcompetent.

We are experienced nurses who know what it takes to be a safe, competent, practicing nurse. If you want to judge other nurses for being incompetent, maybe you should've passed your boards on the first, second or third try. Calling a nurse incompetent when you can't even pass the NCLEX after 10+ tries is ignorant.

There's a lot of competent nurses who are bad nurses.

Even if this statement were true, it does not mean the reverse is correct. In what scenario is an incompetent nurse a good nurse?

I realize I am being a bit harsh. Did you really expect to post about failing 14 times and have nothing but kind, encouraging responses?

There is absolutely nothing shameful about admitting defeat. Plenty of us have given up on dreams before becoming nurses. For example, I wanted to be a veterinarian at one point, but it was not realistic for me. Everyone fails at something at least once in their life.

Sianee my dear @ this point do what u feel is right for you. I haven't passed board yet either but I'll be damn if I'm gone take it 14X no way. Some of the advice given to you is great advice & some of the statements have a lot of truth to it. If you believe in a God or not you have to do more than the bare minimal. Pls for the safety of the community do more than just a tutor. You have to start from the beginning if this is what you truly want. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

I am very proud of you because you believe in your self that you will pass your RN NCLEX exam. That's is a good. However, this is a tip for you. If you could at least have a moment of peace to remember those question that you have, the last time you took your exam and if you write it down. Second, find the similar question and read it from the book by system to find out the best answer. Third , read the rationale carefully. The last strategy I could give you is if you could take at least two weeks of off days at work. start to discipline yourself by answering 300 questions per day in three hours(timed pressure). after your take the test read the rationale carefully. Try to have comprehensive exam through computer or through practice NCLEX book with mixed systems questions. You have to practice this within 12 days. and the 13 and 14th day you have to be at peace and mentally prepared to take again your exam and I hope your 15th times is a WIN!
