For those of you out there that have recently taken the NCLEX-RN and had to go the whole dreadful 265 questions-do not think you automatically failed! I took mine Friday morning at 8am..and just found out the results today Sunday at 8:52am and I PASSED!!!!! All of my friends were saying they stopped at 75 and under 100, so after I passed that number I was losing all hope and dignity..cried my eyes out all the way home and couldn't stop shaking! I would have bet my life on it that I failed..that's how sure I was..the test screws with your mind big time! I talked it over with a few people and they said if you have a lot of multiple-multiples it's a good sign because they are higher difficulty questions..so just because you had to take every question DO NOT automatically think you failed!
The number of questions mean nothing in terms of passing or failure. When the number exceeds 75 it means you have not convinced the test one way or the other yet. Because the level of test question difficulty changes depending on your answers there is no way to gauge how well you are doing.
In most cases people feel like they are doing horrible because the test is designed to keep you at a certain percentage of right to wrong answers.
For those of you out there, i took my Nclex, and I used the whole 5hrs and I did not even finish all the questions but my time was up. Who on earth could believe i can ever ever pass the exam?
But guess what, I saw my name on a friday morning @ BRN website and I passed! That was a miracle to me. The computer did not shut me off but it told me that my time was up at 217 questions.
So, there is nothing too difficult for God to do, it was a miracle!
I am an absolute wreck right now! I took my test yesterday afternoon after traveling 2 1/2 hours in poor weather conditions to another state. I have a job offer and am scheduled to begin orientation next week. The trouble is I had 265 questions and completed the exam just under 5 hours. The only thing I can think right now is that I failed! I am on "pins and needles" until Friday morning!

Just learned that I passed with 265 questions! Talk about anxiety from beginning to end! So relieved and glad it is over! Now, on to great things! I start my new employee orientation on Monday morning! Hooray!!!
Hi There,
Congrattt ha, I know how you feel.. Hahaha!!!! Truly and honestly Congrattttt!!!!!!!!
I took my NCLEX yesterday and got 265 questions. I, like others, keep waiting for it to turn off at 75, then 100, then 150, and all the while my heart just sank!! I felt completely defeated when I left. I was in a complete state of shock. I knew I just did not have the ability to spend another 45 days studying 4-5 hrs a day. When I got home I did PVT, and I got the "good" pop-up. However, considering what a trainwreck of a test I had, I didn't believe it. I, thankfully read all the wonderful posts on this site about having 265? and passing, which gave me some hope. I can't thank everyone enough for posting and making me feel that I was not alone in my disappointment. I checked the BON this morning and I have indeed PASSED!!! So trust the PVT, as it does work. And if you get 265 questions, don't beat yourself up, you can still pass!!! Thanks again to all @ Allnurses.com for posting their hearts and minds. I can't tell you how much it meant to me to know I was not alone!
