Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Welcome, I enjoyed viewing the January 2017 Topic. This post is for all those who are taking their NCLEX RN in February. Please share how you guys are doing with your review? What materials are you using? Lets do the same and encourage each other. Thanks

Thanks! I already sent out an email!

sup nurses and future nurses! been lurking for a bit and figured i'd contribute as these threads provide useful info, and i don't have anything to do post-nclex haha

used only Uworld for about 2-3 weeks prior to nclex. Averaged around 55% with 90% chance of passing on the assessment.

Did the PVT trick about 30 minutes after and got the good pop up.

continuously checked about every hour throughout the day and continued to get the good pop up.

checked the DOHMQA website the next morning (florida rns) which showed I passed!

here's the link for FL RN's: MQA Online Services

Anyways, Good luck all!!

30 SATA??? Wow. Congratulations to you!!

I took NCLEX today. It was just like taking a UWorld Test. I left feeling like I guessed a lot. My exam shut off at 75 questions. Did the Pearson Vue trick about 4 times and have gotten only the good pop up. My girl went with me. After we had lunch and went wine tasting. Got to try a yummy chocolate wine mixed with berry wine. Overall today was a good day. Im believing God that I passed. í ½í¹í ¼í¿¾

Hello to all the members here, I'm a newbie here, practicing RN in the UAE (Abu Dhabi to be exact) for 5 years now, I am planning to take my NCLEX on May, I am just waiting for my ATT to arrive. I'm so anxious about this now as I do practice daily with test questions from evolve elsevier online, access from the purchased saunders 6th edition book. I graduated nursing back in 2008 in the Philippines and reviewing now feels like I'm starting from scratch. I have heard about UWorld but I don't feel like registering there anymore because having this thick book is already overwhelming with thousands of questions online. I've read some tips and I think all concludes to just do the best and pray and may the odds be in one's favor. LOL

but seriously, I have 3 months to self review in between work. I'm planning to take the exam in Guam. I feel so frustrated when I get low grades from practice tests, but at least I get to know the rationales right after.

Reading the book, on the other hand, makes me feel like it's taking so much time to finish one heap of a chapter that makes me lag behind other (endless) topics.

Any "extra" advice from you guys? And wish me luck. As I wish everyone success here, too :)

(Omg, sorry for the long post)

Way to go!! That's awesome! I'm hoping for a similar outcome in a few days! How did you feel the SATA compared to Uworld?

Congrats! Sounds like you have it in the bag!! I'm glad to hear it was similar to uworld. I have 80 questions left to complete the test bank and I'm averaging at 64%, testing on Tuesday! Just feeling like I'm getting burnt out but I'm ready to get it done!

Congrats again :)

Hi nurses. I just had my NCLEX for state of NY in Makati, Philippines last Feb 9, 2017. It was pretty overwhelming. My computer stopped at 75th after 2 hours with tons of SATA. I did not count in order to focus on the exam but to my guess likely more than 30 or mostly of my exam are SATA! It's like, every other question, 3 of them consecutively. Also had more of prioritization and delegation. And of course drugs that I never met(lol). Seriously there are case the question is real easy but having a lot of SATA. Good grief, every time it appears I will just smile and pray (Oh GOD you're so naughty. Ok, I got this!) Than to be stressed out while having exam. Since I'm international nurse, the application process was quite long (2 years). I have not check neither of QR or pearsonvue trick. I'm pretty scared lol. Perhaps I'll just wait for that email. I'll get back here with the result. Wish me luck!

Good luck!! Sending good vibes your way!

@shoemjen i'd say they were pretty similar. when you use Uworld, utilizing it more in a way to help you think through a question, you know what i'm sayin?

anyways, good luck to you! you got this!! stay focused!

Hi everyone,

I've been mostly a lurker on here but I completed the NCLEX yesterday and found out today that I passed! I wanted to share my experience as I found it helpful reading everyone else's..

I started studying in January, while working so I did not have dedicated studying time. I used the Kaplan Textbook, NCLEX Mastery App, UWorld, and Kaplan Question Trainers 1-3, in that order. The Kaplan textbook was not that useful, but it was a good starting point if you don't know where to begin. I started using the Mastery app and completed all the areas that I knew I struggled with, whenever I had the time to pick up my phone. I had UWorld for roughly 2 weeks and completed only about 1000 questions. This was probably my most useful resource as the explanations were so rich compared to the rest, and I highly recommend it to assist with critical thinking. I quickly did Kaplan Question Trainers 1-3 on the day before my NCLEX.

My scores are as follows:

UWorld QBank Avg after 1000 questions: 57%

UWorld Predictor: 65%, 90th percentile, "very high chance of passing"

Kaplan QT1: 60%

Kaplan QT2: 63%

Kaplan QT3: 57%

I completed my exam in 75 questions, using 2.5 hours (slow). I had many SATA, priority, mat, peds, and pharm questions. The exam questions felt completely random and there were many things I didn't even recognize. I can finally relate to other people who say they walked out of the exam feeling like they failed because it was exactly just that!

I didn't do the PVT because I knew my results come out the next day and I did not want to risk the chance of any false positives or false negatives.

I passed and I'm ecstatic. I hope for all those, who are still to write, can feel the same way soon!

@ItsChancey- you did not finish the Kaplan qtrainers? Was it because it was not helpful and uworld was better for you? I'm on the verge of ditching Kaplan.
