Nclex RN February 2017

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Welcome, I enjoyed viewing the January 2017 Topic. This post is for all those who are taking their NCLEX RN in February. Please share how you guys are doing with your review? What materials are you using? Lets do the same and encourage each other. Thanks

Congradualtions, creyna 123!!! You made it. What did you use for studying and what was your score. Would be appreciate if you share your success with us:)

Thank you! I only used Kaplan to study and only got the suggested 65% maybe once doing the Qbank, and on the RN readiness I only got 57%. I did not feel ready to take it at all, I really forced myself to wait up until it was too late to reschedule. Mainly to get it over with and see what it would consist of, and I've forgotten so many things since I graduated that I didn't want to forget more. It was extremely hard but honestly I don't think rescheduling to a further date would have helped me any. I didn't have any of the same contents from the thousands of questions I answered on Kaplan. I think that if you mainly have prioritization down you should be good. That was what the majority of my 265 questions consisted of. I do think that the setup is very much like Kaplan though. I would recommend going over CBC lab values, popular meds like Digoxin and Prednisone, and knowing how to prioritize seeing your patients! Priotitization was the MAJORITY of my test.

I'm sorry @rvimmi but it does sound like you have to re-test. 45 or 90'days later - varies by state. Try UWorld and focus on critical thinking. Hurst videos are good for content and how to take test if you can sit through them.

Those are great scores! You'll do amazing. My UWorld avg was 61% and 69% (94th percentile) on the predictor.

I looked over a study guide I found online and the notes I took while I reviewed the rationales.

Thank you so much for the encouragement and tips!!! I have the study guide so I may glance over that and look at my rationale notes as well! Thanks again and congrats to you!

@shoemjen - I averaged 62% mostly cuz I did it watching TV, waiting in line, all day whenever I had a minute. I made stupid mistakes (picked what to do versus what not to do, accidentally skipped questions). I didn't do the test cuz I like getting the rationales - used it as a learning tool.

I had one med question and it was about a very common med

I take my NCLEX on Valentine's day and I am so nervous! Please if any of you that have taken and passed it, any pointers will help. So anxious :nailbiting:

Use UWorld, it is most similar to the nclex. I used Saunders review in September & I failed at number 265. I studying for 1.5 months this time using uworld, NCSBN, & RN mastery app & I stopped at 75 in 40 minutes. I found out today that I passed!! Good luck! Go with you gut. You cannot memorize content, just learn how to answer the right question. Do questions all through the day using your phone apps. Memorize labs well & use the 35 page study guide that is floating around on here. Good luck!!!!! I wish you all success.

I take mine on Valentine's Day too! What time are you testing at? I have faith in us! Good luck :)

In my experience, I only had 1 pharma question asking for an easy side effect. :)

There were 2 questions related to "which drug should the nurse clarify?"

I agree with everyone.

If you use Uworld, don't worry if you average 50-60%. I was at the same predicament when I started. I got 52% in the start and ended with 69%. It's not high as a 90% but the important thing isn't how much you score, but sharpening your critical thinking skills. Focus on why the answer is the best and why it is correct out of all the other answers.

Rationalize each answer.

Decide which answer is true and which answer is false.

You will find answers that are very similar and you might have to pick the best answer out of the 2 choices. Don't forget your ABCs.

Congratulations to everyone who took NCLEX!

Good luck to everyone who will be taking their exams soon.

Hey everyone I just sat for my Nclex Feb 7th got all 265 questions. I had been a nervous wreck these past two days. I got my quick results and well I failed. I felt really bad at first but I know I have 45 days to prepare myself to take it again. I have uworld, hurst review, kaplan and a ton of books. I had two dosage calculation questions, a ton of prioritization questions, OB questions, pysch, peds, and med questions. There was a couple about safety in regards to like what precautions you take for certain things like C.diff, chicken pox and etc. I am feeling so overwhelmed and I don't even know where to begin again. If anyone has a good plan for me to follow that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I'm so sorry to hear that! I've been there before, I want all the way up to 265 just to fail. I took my test a few weeks ago. I have a few things that could probably help you out. Email me, [email protected]
